Trying to turn AI transcript of a 90 minute teams meeting into readable notes. There’s 106 pages of it… (I used to turn my handwritten notes of similar events into typed formal minutes on the train journey home; 45 minutes. Something tells me this might take longer)

Finally made it into the office after dropping C16 at RCM for a percussion & brass course. Have remembered that London does have a no-go zone: South Ken station during half term week. Like the fall of Saigon but with more pushchairs.

Does anyone I know on here know where one might find a pattern for a surplice? (OH is doing costumes for school production again and needs a bunch of coloured ones, so looking to make her own from cheap cotton as polyester ones won't take the dye)

ok we're letting this guy off cos he's a BBC reporter who's at least posting on here rather than the Nazi site. help the man out

📢 Journo request! Looking to speak to Sysadmins etc who have been - or are still - dealing with the PHP mayhem. Are you personally on the coalface of this? Have you been patching/ taking sites offline/ handling calls from customers? Can be anonymous if needs be. Please DM/ Signal me!

The sheer agony of remembering I'm trying to be a nice, positive person online and not do my hopeless pedant thing (other than to people who know me really well) when someone posts a comment highlighting a grammatical ambiguity which... isn't a grammatical ambiguity if you're aware of apostrophes.

Here’s one for the archaeologists and agricultural historians! We dug up this item y’day, buried deep at the edge of our C16th Suffolk farmstead. It’s 18” long, forged iron, heavily corroded. Our landscapers have never seen anything like it. Any thoughts? (Flint for stability!)

Half term is a mixed bag - on the plus side, vibraphone & marimba practice alongside the usual harp make for a lovely work environment. On the minus side, C16 is an inventive & accomplished cook so the smells as she caters for herself are amazing... I suppose we should be glad she's self sufficient.

It had to happen. C16 has moved on from vibes and reassembled the drumkit, complete with double bass pedal. I'll be honest, War Pigs works better when you can hear all of it rather than just the drums. (The fact that I can feel it coming through the wall as well doesn't make it any better)

We don't permit food near our collections - but we love to explore it within our collections! 😋 Our Hypatia Collection of books by & about women includes cookery books, of which many contain evidence of use, including stains, clippings, handwritten recipes & even drawings! #WorldFoodDay #RareBooks

Dear hotel chain, Sending me an email about feedback on how much I’m enjoying my stay five hours before check-in even opens is asking for trouble.

Was making my way through Wells this evening and spotted this in the window of the City Newsagents alongside all the other small ads.

So I’ve just seen Barclays advertising their investment platform with Little Green Bag as the backing track and as someone whose only previous knowledge of the number is from Reservoir Dogs I do have to wonder what sort of long term outcomes they’re trying to associate themselves with.

I did a panel the other day where we talked about the cost of compute as being a massively limiting factor, but for lots of AI purchasers that cost is still being masked by VC/investor money so the vulnerabilities are high but hidden wch leads to scepticism

New: I pulled the Character ai bankruptcy documents. They show: - They were spending $14 million/month on compute alone at a time their revenue was around ~$1 million/month - Currently losing $9 million a month - They admitted they enshittified & that it didnt work www.404media.co/character-ai...

Screening question on a survey - I know they want you to answer fast, but I could help but think of @crimegirl.co.uk and how "slow" => "defendant", whereas "fast" => got away from the pursuers and therefore didn't end up in court...

ATTENTION! I’ve got a very cool new music world premiere opportunity at Henselfest (April 2nd or 3rd, 2027), and I’m looking for: -a contrabass player -a soprano -an alto If you are one of these things and you are interested, HIT ME UP! Please share widely!

I'm resigned to UK Cardle being a bit odd about which combination of make/model it recognises as a valid answer (frequently rejects the full name, as it appears in the answer, in favour of manufacturer only). But I'm pretty certain this isn't a combination I'd ever have come up with for that car...

Let's talk eels & colonization! In the early 17th C. London was growing fast and needed more eels. The surrounding countryside couldn't provide enough. The Dutch importers could...but the English were nervous of the strong Dutch monopoly. So where did they look? Ireland. 1/5 🗃️🧪

New episode alert 🚨 In this month's podcast, music historians Leah Broad and Samantha Ege discuss the lives and work of Samuel and Avril Coleridge-Taylor 🎶 Listen wherever you get your podcasts, or watch on our YouTube 📺

It is the last day of September. I should not be thinking how well the evening would lend itself to dining al fresco with a glass of chilled rose.

R18 has managed to secure a place helping out on a local archaeological dig (Roman villa) - she's been asked to bring a trowel if she's got one and I'm hoping I know someone who could advise if either of these would do? Both blades 13cm long, pointy one 6cm wide, rounded one 7cm wide.

It’s the 43rd anniversary of the day the world might have ended but for one man, and I don’t have time to write that up, and anyway why try when @garius.bsky.social has done this...?

authory.comThe Day the World Didn’t EndAt the height of the Cold War, with alarms screaming, one Soviet officer stopped to think. It cost him his career. It may also have saved the world. The morning of the 26th September 1983 had started ...

So the good news is that C16 has learned how to properly project her voice in her first few weeks at specialist music school. The bad news is that she’s learned how to project her voice properly, even when singing in the shower.

Silver linings: R18's uni fouled up her accommodation so badly she's ended up deferring for year. Which means she's joined a couple of local orchestras and is looking to build her harp playing business... so I get a couple of hours a day of angelic soundtrack to work to while she practices.

Really keen to hear from someone who has opted out of their auto-enrolment pension scheme. You don’t need to be on air - just share a few thoughts with me. RTs gratefully received!

Been slow catching up on Reacher and I can’t recall the novel for this one. But I’m not sure whether an English author would really have a character called Uncle Monty in anything these days.

Do I know anyone who'd be interested in a 21 plate VW Polo "United" (blue) - 997cc learner special but with heated seats & stuff. Not sure if the dealer service package would transfer with it, but you might need to be near Bedford for that to be worthwhile anyway. c£12k.

Just had an email from a clothing manufacturer assuring me that their new product is “The only insulted jacket you will ever need” and all I can think about is how one might go about belittling a garment and what impact that would have on its performance.
