Normally, "You're Fired" means you have instantly lost your job, not: You WILL lose your job IN TEN MONTHS. #MakeItMakeSense

I can't wait to see what the next 10 months are going to be like for Colbert. Now he has nothing to lose. It's a shame he lost his show, but this is going to be interesting. CBS, Paramount, and Dementia Don are all now fair game. Colbert ratings will go thru the roof. I ordered a case of popcorn.

This is precisely why I harp on the negative influence of reactionary centrists so often: Exaggerating the radicalism of the left gives voters permission to support the radicalism of the right. If both candidates are deranged fascist liars, why not support the one that's gonna cut your taxes?

Of course, not all of them felt this way. Niall Ferguson, for example, projected a serene confidence that I found somewhat shocking

You’re publishing a book about how campus activists pose a threat to democracy while those activists are being disappeared and deported. The rise of the Third Reich doesn’t obviate study of the Weimar Republic but it maybe does obviate asking whether the victims had it coming

I asked the one high ranking policeman I saw on 5th Ave why there were so few police. He said “We did not expect anything like this. Don’t tell anyone but I’ve only got 44 officers out here — and it’s a great crowd, great event, no incidents.”

Mor Naaman@informor.bsky.social

I have never seen anything like this in NYC. 5th Ave covered from 42nd St well to the 20s. Nobody prepared for this volume. Volunteers are holding the traffic on all the side streets. No police in sight. #handsoff

"On October 8, 1931, a law went into effect requiring every Italian university professor to sign an oath pledging their loyalty to the government of Benito Mussolini. Out of over 1,200 professors in the country, only 12 refused. All of them were immediately fired." www.chronicle.com/article/what...

Trump went to a LIV golf tournament instead of attending the dignified transfer of four U.S. Army soldiers who died in Lithuania. If you're wondering why this is so disgusting and insulting, I wrote about my time in the Army doing dignified transfers here: www.usatoday.com/story/opinio...

Wow who could’ve guessed that this would happen It’s almost as if USAID was a pillar of American soft power and influence in the world It’s almost as if it was entirely predictable that America’s adversaries would work to fill the void left by USAID’s destruction

Who lost their jobs at the FDA? The people who determine if a costly drug is ready to be a generic The people who test food and drugs for contaminants and deadly bacteria in several labs were let go The people talking to overseas drug safety regulators to get ahead of foodborne illness & deaths

nytimes.comFDA Layoffs Could Raise Drug Costs and Erode Food Safety (Gift Article)Trump cutbacks were supposedly aimed at administrators. But scientists in food and drug-testing labs and policy experts who advance generic drug approvals were also dismissed.
