If you don't support open borders, you don't love America. If you don't love America, you're on the side of the fascists.
the knee-jerk nature of so much WNBA discourse really sidelines fans from leveling legitimate criticism at the most gendered disparity in women's sports — the *extreme* lack of bureaucratic aptitude within these front offices and ownership groups
it's weird because the implicit frame of "no one asked for this" is that markets transmit information with perfect reliability, and most of the people who say that will deny that markets transmit information well at all in other contexts
Not really a fan of going down intentionally when you've got a clear path to the end zone and don't actually have the lead yet, that field goal isn't guaranteed.

It's crazy that learning styles, which are basically astrology, are treated as completely legitimate by everyone, including many education professionals
A rule change I'd like to see is that holding by an offensive lineman on a passing play should be a loss of down in addition to the yardage penalty, for basically the same reason that intentional grounding is.
Part of it comes from a very modern internet-era left-wing notion that our only sins are that which we do, not that which we leave undone.
Inaction is always morally neutral, which is awfully convenient.
Some staggeringly daft responses to this one along the lines of "you can't expect everyone to understand convertible notes accounting", when the actual point is "if you don't understand accounting, then why not shut up instead of posting something stupid"
Are we gonna do this, Bluesky? Are we all just gonna not understand accounting?
72B$ of the 80B$ is convertible notes. They became greater liabilities because the company's valuation skyrocketed. They don't have an 80B$ loss in the sense that almost everyone here is imagining.
I want the fire department, not the slop department. Horses are alive and have a soul, firetrucks just mimic movement and perform their best guess based on your steering.
“We were out there protesting and then the elections changed things and a lot of the people protesting got seats at the table and began the long process of changing things and then all we were left with is lifelong malcontents whose strategy was protesting & not voting to upend the duopoly.”

There wasn’t enough there there to sustain momentum when the novelty wore off & it got chilly out
There are serious police reform activists still plugging away at the problem & we do really need deep reforms to policing; but that requires sustained, boring, thankless work, not chants & vandalism
I guess this is my main hobby horse by this point, but the “not my job to change any minds” part is consumer thinking or classroom logic, you’re not thinking like a citizen or neighbor, or any way like a member of a body. You being right, someone else being wrong, and waiting on a third to fix it.
my kinda spicy take is that a lot of liberals have had this vibe for decades, and it's basically how their theory of improving civil rights would go. The era of SCOTUS-enforced liberalism kinda stuck a lot of folks in "change the rules, punish people, not my job to change any minds,"
Twenty years ago when I was a student football Saturdays in Bloomington were a joke...we showed up, we cheered, but we were almost mocking ourselves in the process because it was such a disaster.
Now my Hoosiers are hosting Ohio State in a top-5 matchup as the defending national champions.
My hot take of the year is that we should implement a reverse progressive tax for for-profit businesses, with the highest tax rates going to petty local small-business tyrants and the lowest to competently, professionally, bureaucratically-managed megacorporations.
Watching NASA press briefings is weird as hell because you've got the WH saying/doing all this deranged and fucked-up and degenerate shit wrt Canada then Jared's up here gushing on and on about how much he loves working with the CSA and how awesome they are and how much cool stuff they're doing.

Historians are the reddit field because every monograph has a several pages where the author very specifically defines a term and acknowledges there's other definitions but says those are irrelevant because if someone cannot engage with you intellectually on those terms they're just a troll
It's honestly really annoying how many arguments stem from "I am using the commonly accepted definition of a term used in this field that I study" and a bunch of people tell you the definition is stupid and so are you for using it
Society is in fact justified in making demands on you and placing affirmative obligations on you, even if it's inconvenient or requires sacrifice on your part. I realize you learned something different at the Ron Paul Thatcherite convention, but that was wrong.
The thing about taxing churches is that if you've ever looked at the financials for basically any normal non-megachurch, your response would be "tax what, exactly"?
College Gameday going to Provo instead of Bloomington when Ohio State @ Indiana could have been an opportunity to bring back Lee Corso as a guest picker is a generational fumble.
there's so much shit to unfuck and so much shit to pass and so much shit to investigate that i have no patience for people going "jeffries didn't say he's going to do X we're doomed"
There's 1,000 things that have to happen in order. We are on number eight. You're talking about number 692.
There really shouldn't be top-level road cycling in October. The season is too much of a sprawling shit-show as-is. End it with the World Championships like a normal fucking sport.
At a restaurant in Panora, IA on a bike ride. TV showing Des Moines local news. So far it's been an entire ad break of campaign advertisements for Democrats, a local news segment about Caitlin Clark contract rumors, and another ad break entirely of ads for Democratic candidates.
