Researchers have found that 6 of 10 abortion restrictions — bans on Medicaid funding for abortion, mandated waiting periods, 2nd-trimester abortion bans, ACA marketplace insurance coverage bans, biased counseling laws, and ultrasound requirements — were linked to higher rates of maternal mortality.

healio.comLaws restricting abortions linked to rise in 'abhorrently high' maternal mortality ratesRising state-level abortion restrictions in the United States were linked to a similar, parallel rise in maternal deaths from 2005 to 2023, according to research presented at The Pregnancy Meeting. ...

Grateful to have a family doc but my husband and I have different doctors and neither would take our whole family so now all 4 of us are down with the flu, both kids have appointments but on opposite ends of the city so it’ll be 3+ hours of driving sick kids. So frustrating #ontario #healthcare

I pay hundreds to subscribe to all of the streaming networks, but all I want to watch is the old Unsolved Mysteries with Robert Stack, which I can, 24 hours a day on the free Samsung channel.

I went to the grocery store with my 4 year old yesterday to pick up 2 things and we walk in the door and she says to me in all seriousness “ ok, we need two things, we better split up!” good plan except you’re a toddler who needs adult supervision.

After a long bit of toiling, we're proud to announce the launch of Gander Social—a project to bring a new kind of social to Canadians. Canadian owned and hosted, a feed you control, privacy-first, consent-based, respectful by default. Join the Early Access program: gandersocial.ca

gandersocial.caGander: The Social Media You Want, Built for CanadaFun, private, and ethical. We're changing the way social media is done around here, all without your data taking an unexpected trip south.

If I didn't have kids, I would cancel all my streaming services and only watch the free Unsolved Mysteries Channel on Samsung TV. All the original episodes narrated by Robert Stack. Peak television. Its own kind of AMSR. #Chefskiss

I just learned about the Black Hills and how the US Government signed the Fort Laramie treaty guaranteeing this land to the Lakota people before they unceremoniously stole it from them and had the audacity to carve their smug mugs into it. Apparently the US Gov has always been massive assholes.

Mt. Rushmore was sculpted by Gutzon Borglum, a member of the KKK. The mountain, called the "Six Grandfathers" by the Lakota, is in the sacred Black Hills, guaranteed by a treaty with the US but stolen as soon as gold was discovered there. It looked like this before Borglum defaced it.

I started using DeepSeek this week and immediately prefer it to ChatGPT. Also the fact that it’s open source makes me trust it much more.

Ok, quick thread on why DeepSeek is blowing up assumptions about LLMs and maybe the whole (U.S.) AI industry. DeepSeek is an AI lab funded by a Chinese hedge fund, their AI code is open source, meaning freely available to use, which most big U.S. models (aside from Meta’s) are not. That’s the start…

This Cybertruck did not crash. It made a heartfelt and perhaps ill-advised gesture that, in the moment, might have been misinterpreted as a crash, but we should not rush to judgement.

The 605.

*sigh* I cannot wait until we are on the other side of this history

NEW: Meta just killed its diversity, equity and inclusion program. Employees aren't buying the company's argument that it's the result of a 'shifting legal landscape.' What they're saying inside the company ➡️ www.platformer.news/meta-kills-d...

A Vancouver strip club got banned from X for sharing a photo of their cheeky sign: “FOREVER NEIGHBOURS NEVER NEIGHBORS” This is the social network of “free speech”?

I haven’t run Meta ads in a while. Is it just me or is the platform overly aggressive in pushing its AI features? I want to control my content and thumbnails and it keeps overriding. The content is sensitive so very important to have that control.

Where’s the AI software that allows me to just upload insurance receipts without wasting half a day typing in all the details that appear on the receipt I upload anyway. That’s what I need. #ADHDtax #ActuallyUsefulAI

The rage my toddler feels when I don’t yell “bye to the pee and poop!” When she’s on the toilet and I’m in another room… is not an emotion I was prepared to deal with.

2 years ago I started buying Natrel high protein milk because as a vegetarian it can be tough to get enough protein. It was around $5 at the time for 2L which was steep but worth it. That same milk is now advertised as a deal for $7.48 and I’m done here. Back to plant based for me.

I use ChatGPT often for random questions… so I feel like it should know me well. I asked it, “based on what you know of me, create a picture of my life.” And it thought I was a man. *SIGH*
