Yeah start insinuating he has morning chai rather than coffee, say that he knocks things for 6 rather than hits a home run, allege that he is generally a clean living good boy who loves his mother and prays every Friday (pejorative).

The God of Bad Art gets offerings from all over the world, but in Their temple, They sometimes appear. "Why bad art?" I ask. "It is brave", the God replies. "To try and fail?" "No," the God chuckles. "Any creative work is a defiance of entropy, of Death itself. If you create, you do not fail."

at some point i started feeling like i was stupid for entertaining the ideas in the space instead of examining the specific social forces involved. the ideas are clearly not actually driving.

Me, age 17, got a job at the local movie theater, I think "Hooray, free movies and maybe popcorn." My first shift was all day, 13 hours. When the manager told me the next day would be the same, I handed him my apron and said I'd rather quit.

Okay, if you, a middle aged white man, are going to get on a flight wearing a cropped T-shirt that says "I ♥️ hot dads", at least have the courage of your convictions and don't wear a contrasting blue shirt under it.

"We are all soon be dead so be as chill as possible." This guy would go places, but he may feel that is too much effort.

Every four years it's "oh, no, the Olympics are boring, no one cares", but then you try a little change to spice things up and they go crazy.

It's so me

Okay. You have unfortunately been hit with the curse that makes you adapt a work you liked as a kid into a ttrpg. What thing are you adapting?

My absolute favorite(*) driving story was when I lived in Houston, 27 years ago, I saw a TV news report about bad drivers. They interviewed a little old lady who said she never used her turn signals "because ain't nobody got no right to know where I'm goin'!" (*) Least favorite.

Boo!-per Lund@cooperlund.online

Buddy, you are driving something that is registered to you with visible identification at all times and requires a license from the state to use. You don’t really have a right to privacy on the road.

This morning I decided to go to the second-best bagel shop for breakfast, and as I wait here for over 15 minutes without a bagel in my hand I am remembering one reason why they are the second best.

Of course you don't need to say it, it's obvious that every recipe starts this way.

Dear Recipe Editors: You do not need to start every dish with "saute 1 diced green bell pepper, seeds and ribs removed, and 2 cloves of garlic, chopped, in 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil"

Trump: It's not working! Why don't they love the fair? How do I make the crowds cheer? Oracle of DC: If you test your strength against the heat with a very long speech, the nation will celebrate harder than they ever have. They will party in the streets. No one will ever forget the night.

He doesn't even spring traps really. He asks questions and asks follow-up questions and says "What do you mean?" and then the interviewee drops the rake they are holding, walks onto it, and starts hitting their own testicles with a hammer.

My country is not for cowards who fear difference, for lily-livered people who cannot bear the sound of a foreign tongue, the taste of a new food, the tempo of an unfamiliar kind of music. It is for the strong worker who welcomes new immigrants, not the slacker who fears the diligence of others.

The first warning arrived on a Tuesday morning, six weeks after consultants advised moving from dependency on six hundred small excel scripts - and nobody at Zenith Ledger Advisory paid much attention. It appeared in the system dashboard between routine audit notifications and a maintenance reminder

Yet another banger where I start laughing too hard to talk and then have to tell my family, "If I explained why it's funny it wouldn't be funny anymore."

“average guitarist knows three chords” factoid actualy just statistical error. Guitar Georg, who lives in London & knows all the chords, is an outlier and should not have been counted

I don't know which is more quintessentially Bavarian: the guy in lederhosen walking through the park with a girl in a dirndl, or the other guy riding his bicycle with a pretzel hanging off of each handlebar. (Hi from Munich!)

New plan: I'm going to start telling barbers and such people that I'm an actuary. I'm tired of telling people I'm a software developer and being asked "So are you worried about losing your job to AI?"

I apparently cursed myself by replying to this. Came down to the basement (where my work desk is) to discover that the bidet developed a slow leak sometime over the weekend and now the bathroom is a quarter inch underwater.

I'm home from being clever and professional in New York, yay... . . . Why is there a pond in the basement? Why does the pond change level when we flush? Which wrench fits the drain cleanout? Did you know you can rent a 50-foot motorized drain snake at 8 pm if you have a car?

New Year's Eve, 2000. All my friends are out of town, I'm sitting by myself in the House of Pies drinking coffee and eating pecan pie. At 10 they closed and kicked me out, so I walked around the streets of Houston until 1am and then went home.

What's a moment from your life, out of context, that's straight from a movie? I'll start - in Tokyo, looking for a quiet place to eat lunch, I sat down in a graveyard. The biggest goddamn raven I've ever seen in my goddamn life landed on a stone next to me. At her insistence, I shared.

As a NY resident, I really need this headline to clarify *which* NY cemetery is full of bees. It's okay, it's East Lawn Cemetery in Ithaca, those of us not in Ithaca are safe.

The first time a therapist explained this to me I got so mad because.... It's 100 percent true.

Discontinued FoOoOods! 👻🎃@discontinuedfoods.bsky.social

Gonna drop the gimmick for a second and explain, as a therapist. What you're describing is a phenomenon called Revenge Bedtime Procrastination. It's a subconscious habit that develops in which a person seeks dopamine-releasing behavior at night to exact "revenge" on the day which deprived them
