i so badly wish iβd planned to stay in pr for more than 3 days bc thereβs so many pretty buildings i want to draw but im glad i got at least one good painting in while i was here!!!
worked as a broadway ticket hawker in times square for 5 hours, was REALLY good at it, but it was a βyou choose your schedule just let us know when you wanna come inβ kinda job and i had terrible unmedicated anxiety so i just never messaged them again to schedule another shift
had a second session w a new therapist today & found out she spent last october reading every adaptation of carmilla she could find. exactly what i look for in a therapist
new podcast episode: listen to me and @crabmoney.bsky.social talk about THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE, its 1963 film adaptation, & the ghosts and lesbians (and lesbian ghosts) of hill house!
pnc.st/s/unnatural-...
every time i reread the haunting of hill house a different thing stands out to me. last time it was the dudleys being ghosts and this time half my notes say "is this book kinda oedipal or is that just me"
everyone get excited to hear me talk about my favorite book of all time!!! if everyone likes this episode maybe emma will let me come back on to talk shit about-- i mean discuss the flanagan hill house show
convinced my psych to up my depression meds so lets hope that gives me energy to do more than one (1) thing per day again. and perhaps even energy to post more often
if you like my shitposts, bad jokes, and occasional bursts of genius while playing puzzle and mystery games on stream i do have a tip jar and it is right here ko-fi.com/citadelofswo...
Students made their first minicomics in my intro making course - mostly standard format but this student, a first time maker(!), did something so off the charts Iβm still reeling from it! & he made like 12 of them for his classmates! A paper engineering feat of flipbookery as well as killer drawing!
The show is good but I have no idea why it was given the title The Haunting of Hill House. It has nothing to do with book at any level: in plot, in theme, in vibe, even in setting.
it bugs me especially with hill house because that's a book about 1. the expectations put on women of being a caretaker for a family that hates them before being their own person 2. being a lonely 30-something year old who's never had her own life and importantly 3. deeply repressed lesbianism

and i don't hate flanagan's hill house when i view it as a completely separate entity unrelated to the book, but putting it next to the book it feels like the real horror is how badly a man can misinterpret Horror About Womanhood. anyway thanks for coming to my ted talk
seeing things about his carrie adaptation (and thinking about his hill house as i reread) and becoming more and more convinced that he's some kind of rightwing psyop. surely no one could write all this stuff and think it's actually a good adaptation that understands the original texts right. right,
genuinely i don't understand why flanagan is so committed to making horror content when he seems to fundamentally hate the genre. he's allergic to making anything end on a note that's not as saccharine as possible. happy endings for everyone with their nuclear families. only pulled punches here
figured out a pattern to use for the main part of my halloween costume, took 3 trains to buy fabric, and found fabric for every part of the costume EXCEPT the bit i have a pattern for. cmonnnnn
admittedly if i went to a real fabric store and not the creative reuse thrift store i might be able to find a wider selection of what i need but in my defense it wouldnβt be like $2/yd at a real fabric store
Public Domain Art is the lifeblood of small tabletop rpgs, but it can be a nightmare trying to find the right art and license.
This week, Iβve re-uploaded my old list from 2020 (with updates) of public domain websites. That's 500,000+ public domain paintings, photos, maps, and film.

imagining a world where steph's robin costume kept a little bit of the energy of her original spoiler costume instead of just being Generic Robin But With A Skirt This Time (Because Girl)

i had a conversation earlier about what to charge for commercial commissions that reminded me i had a calculator for that sitting around in my google drive, so i've edited that into a template and tossed it on my ko-fi for PWYW! ko-fi.com/s/bc6f316116
meant to be a jumping-off point for thinking about pricing more than an end-all-be-all price guide, but it's been helpful for me and i figured it might be helpful for other people too
in case it's useful to anyone else, i've tossed the spreadsheet template i've been using to track my graphic novel progress in my ko-fi shop! keeps track of deadlines, pages started/finished, & how many pages you should do each day to stay on track. PWYW!
