Mark and I worked on a very fun comic in this magazine - go order it!!

The Candle: Volume One is a comics magazine focused on themes of chivalric romance from the medieval period and beyond. 8'' x 10.5''. Saddle-stitch binding. 44 pages. Shipping in November. Order Here: weekendwarriorcomics.com/shop/p/ktt6x...

I have completed the Carrie TV show. They kinda botched everything from the massacre onward. Confrontation with her mom completely absent of what makes the material so potent.

I don't actually want to see a film adaptation of The Silmarillion, but if it does have to happen in my lifetime then I really hope whoever tackles it does something more interesting with the design of orcs to break out of the fanged monsters lane.

The most radical move, the one that Rings of Power flirted with, would be making them visually indistinguishable from the elves outside of costuming.

Continuing the Carrie tv show. They have now directly done the scene from Chronicle where the undercooked Dicaprio crushes the car with telekinesis.

Disappointed the V for Vendetta movie cut out the part where V deafened the falcon so it could not hear the falconer and anarchy could be loosed upon the world

I did want a movie about Steve Rogers, after going back in time, putting all his effort into keeping the Dodgers from leaving Brooklyn instead of saving Bucky or stopping 9/11 or whatever

Irish Americans really are weird about it sometimes ("plastic patty" is a tremendous bit of slander) but goddamn if those fundraisers for the Navajo Nation weren't the most affirming cross-cultural connection

I remember when working on a book with, like, an actual publisher that they were so late paying my collaborator that I paid them for an indeterminate future project just so they wouldn't be totally screwed by the publisher wasting their time while we tried to finish the book.

I've talked up this pitch a lot, but I want to shout out my co-creator @biankatdraws.bsky.social for being an absolute dream to work with! Her character designs and pages on this are bursting with life and personality, and I think her art will do more to sell the book than anything else.

One last lettering pass, and this new romcom pitch is ready to go on submission! This is one that I both love to bits personally and believe should have a very strong shot of being relevant to the modern YA market, so I'm very excited to send it out.

this article confirms what ive been telling younger comic writers for years: unless you are very wealthy, there is no point to table in artist alley at a big show (unless table comped). you will not make your money back & your time’s better spent meeting people www.comicsbeat.com/is-artist-al...

comicsbeat.comIs Artist Alley even sustainable any more? It's more expensive than ever to set up in artist alley or at a comics show - and here are some of the numbers

The drama of the blood and torn mask at the climax of Spider-Man (2002) coupled with how those bastards were smashing each other through brick walls is still more exciting than every city destroying climax these cape movies have been trying to get over.

A Few Good Men is a stellar movie and one of the few to really identify how the military operates in a parallel world from the rest of the United States. It's not about the "brotherhood" but the official, unofficial, and the unofficially official rules of that society.

Why make a magazine all about knights, swords, and questing? The simple answer is that it speaks to me! And the longer answer is that the "knight in shining armor" remains a potent image for exploring the pursuit of higher ideals, how we fail them, how we grow from that pursuit even in failure.
