I have a unique advertising idea that any Democratic super PAC is very welcome to steal: Currently there are a variety of products people order from abroad which result in a FedEx driver knocking on your door and asking you to pay a tariff before you can receive your product.....

You can literally send tax collectors to voters doors to disappoint them when they are expecting a product that they ordered online. And everyone who gets the product knows exactly why the delivery guy has to collect a tax.

Doing this to solid GOP voters will dampen enthusiasm and suppress turnout. Doing it with Democrats will fire them up. Doing it with independents will give them a sour taste about the tariffs. You probably can't get better bang for your advertising buck than signing people up for this experience.

Rather than advertising about politics, advertise these products--target voters in key districts not with a political message, but with an ad to buy a product. Those who buy the product will get a knock on the door asking them to pay a tax that everyone knows is Trump's doing. That's all.

The aging, latent police reporter in me can't help put pause to remark on the unforced error of the SAC in Salt Lake's FBI field office making the unforced error of announcing they have recovered a “footwear impression.” A shout-out to toss or destroy those shoes, ASAP. That's a detail you keep.

Information environment has reached its grotesque conclusion in that there is a very real killer out there who has not been identified, apprehended, or investigated, a detail practically inconsequential to nearly every commentator’s purposes.

Seems to me that if lawsuits against unconstitutional government policies can only protect the individuals suing, then there needs to be a *lot* of lawsuits. This is a logistical and manpower challenge, but I think it can be done in a few different ways:

3) Attorney extenders: we need attorneys to be able to handle a higher volume of cases, which means the legal professional needs to figure out ways to enable more efficiency + outsourcing. In medicine we say that people should be practicing at the top of their license. Needs to accelerate in law.

Basically an effective response to the SCOTUS decision today must involve innovations in the way legal services are delivered and find ways to lower the cost and dramatically expand access to legal services. We need innovations that expand access to the courts. Urgently.

2) Pro-se litigation assisted by AI: where a government action creates tens or hundreds of thousands of victims, the legal arguments are highly similar in the suits that need to be filed. Agentic AI can be spun up to create filings where the facts of a case are applied to a pre-determined framework

....this would get around the problems of hallucinations etc and create unique suits by the thousands that can be filed without attorneys to obtain thousands of injunctions. A plus here is that the government will be overwhelmed by hundreds of thousands of lawsuits...

1) Group litigation - I've seen this occasionally where a lawsuit with a large number of plantiffs is advertised by an attorney; each plantiff pays a few hundred dollars. This tactic may gain new relevance

I used to select Dem primary candidates based on policy. Now I will aggressively try to destroy any Dem who says "we need to look forward not backward" and fervently support anyone who says "I will see these motherfuckers prosecuted and jailed if it's the last thing I do."

I am of the opinion that only a severe economic crisis can save American democracy. I therefore am quite grateful to POTUS for his efforts to produce an economic catastrophy today. It is exactly what we need at this moment.

Every time you see someone powerful acting like a craven coward in the face of this authoritarian menace, let it stiffen your own spine. We are all we've got.

It's just hilariously disingenuous. Imagine looking at, say, ALL OF HUMAN HISTORY and concluding that the biggest threat to liberty isn't abuse of power, but powerful people refraining from sufficiently wielding their authority out of fear that they might one day be held accountable.

It's not the worst of it, but what I may be actually angriest about (right now) is Roberts' smarmy smugness and dismissiveness in the final two paragraphs of section IV and the whole of section V. "Fear mongering," "extreme hypotheticals," "our perspective must be more farsighted," and this.

I mean, all I am saying is that self-described libertarianism seems increasingly dominated by people who think that calling out bigoted trash is more socially destructive and morally blameworthy than BEING bigoted trash.

Most of the things Trump does are dumb if you’re trying to win in court but sensible if you want to be a fascist dictator beloved of violent brownshirts.

Question: what are the realistic odds of a conviction in the Manhattan case, and a realistic range of possible penalties? I want to read some dispassionate experts who are giving their realistic opinions. Anybody have a link?

I would like to see some analysis of demographic trends in swing states, because I think this is a very necessary piece of context to add to the polls. The 2024 electorate looks different than the 2020 electorate and in places where elections will be close this will have a large impact.

Suppose Trump wins in November, then decides to run for a third term in 2028. Suppose he has at least one house of Congress in his pocket. What mechanism exists to enforce against the election of someone for a third term?

Somehow it never occurred to me that a major campaign issue for one of the national parties of the United States in 2024 would be general opposition to a triumph of modern medicine that saves something like 4 million lives worldwide every year and dramatically reduces childhood mortality.

Boebert’s ex is all “BOY, you been showin your hog on the tikkity-tok? That’s some bullshit, all that digital stuff. Back in my day we did it like men, live, at the bowling alley.”

Why is Trump ahead in polls? Trump has never won more votes than his opponent. He tried to stage a coup, stole classified documents, got indicted ninety-some times. Meanwhile unemployment is at a record low and stock market at record high. WTF is going on?

If frozen embryos are people, then they should be counted in the census, and congressional seats allotted on that basis, right? We can start creating lots of frozen embryos and storing them strategically to create EC advantages in future elections.

Kyle Varner, MD reposted

In response to the Alabama Supreme Court’s decision that embryos are children, Congressional Republicans have introduced legislation to make it easier to deport them and the Libertarian Party has lobbied for a bill making it legal to marry them.

The media has spent so long both-sidesing that if you describe the Republicans' stated goals and policies in strictly factual terms you sound like you're running a smear campaign.
