Reading about infamous leaders in history, we often wonder how their disastrous decisions came to be. What led to such ruinous outcomes? Lucky for us (or not), we’re living through history now—watching it all unfold in real time

Trump 2 seems to be violating the Boiling Frog apologue, and it may cost them and save America. Always the showman DJT, aided by his cadre of geeked-out 2025ers, couldn’t wait to drop their plans on America inauguration day. It was widely predicted, but needed to be seen to be fully grokked. /1

Rufo is just a schoolyard bully, it’s pathetic

They may have acted too quickly, with too much force and w/o humility. And it may backfire. The impatience to start with cooler water may initiate too much immediate backlash and render the 2025 lies too clearly. /2

Nate Silver is predicting a long-term vibe shift to the right. Fads, trends and "vibe shifts" move quicker each year. The pendulum swings and in the digital world, time quickens. Instead, Trump 2 is just as likely to end in a lowkey, modern French-type revolution and mass revolt on the superrich, 1/

It will fall squarely on the superrich and true elites and culminate in serious wealth tax discussions, increased taxes along with potential confiscations and property damage. The lack of guardrails is inducing many in frenzy of avarice, like dogs in a butcher shop, /3

particularly the Tech Elite. Trump has a preternatural ability to avoid backlash and blame, but there will be mass resentments from the abject greed that abounds. Couple that with any policies that don’t improve the lives of the common man and blame will need to find a target as it bypasses DJT.2/

🚨BREAKING: @DouglasEmhoff reportedly confronted Bruce Fischer, Sen. Deb Fischer's husband, at the inauguration, saying, “Why would you try to shake my hand when you wouldn’t shake my wife’s hand?” This came after Fischer declined to shake VP Harris's hand but attempted to greet Emhoff. 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥

So i go outside to smoke a cigarette (after some period of snuggling, off course), and i come back to my bed, and there are two persons in it. Also, all men are trans.

Big tell in this Trump order targeting trans people: "at conception"

You know how you know we are in REAL TROUBLE. The POTUS-elect just became a cryto billionaire and not CNN, not CNBC, not FOX, no one is saying anything. I mean, its the hottest new on Socials all day, but nothing? Afraid? And now hes launched another coin.

AXIOS: “.. Besides Donald Trump, Elon Musk and his fellow DOGE head Vivek Ramaswamy, at least 11 billionaires will be serving key roles in the administration.” @axios.com www.axios.com/2024/12/06/t...

Fascinating thread.

What was going on with the pistol used in the NYC assassination? I believe it was a Browning-Whiting tilting barrel action that was improperly configured to run subsonic ammunition. A short 🧵

Watching and listening to Jeff Bezos lie to me on CNBC. Hot take, there's going to be a huge anti Billionaire push in the coming years. I wasn't in that camp, but this is coming.

Maybe this is why presidential transition teams did FBI background checks until... uh... a few weeks ago? 🤔

Overpacking FTW. What happens uif you wish you brought? Dont worry, just bring it.

Sometimes, “overpacking” pays off. Go ahead, pack your essentials and your cute things and your fun things. Here are a few tricks to make it work. nyti.ms/41bA8aJ

The fact that the Democrats are graded on a different scale is why we are in this position to begin with. Why and how are more important than messaging with regards to winning elections

The Hunter Biden story is a perfect encapsulation of what’s wrong with American media: Is it a story? Sure. But every newspaper in America devoting front page headlines to Hunter fucking Biden while Trump appoints a cabal of rapists, racists and con-men to positions of enormous power is MADNESS.

For those going home to visit family this weekend: • Samsung calls it Auto Motion Plus • LG calls it TruMotion • Sony calls it Motionflow • Roku calls it Action Smoothing • Google TV calls it Motion Enhancement • Vizio calls it Smooth Motion Effect.

Exactly, but he also has a propensity for having that MO work out for him often.

Popehat@kenwhite.bsky.social

There’s a narrative that Gaetz was a deliberate head-fake — a distraction to boost the real candidate — but I am always suspicious of narratives that attribute four-dimensional chess to trump as opposed to knocking over the table and eating the checkers.

Trump is more ruthless and vindictive than he was before, and more contemptuous of the law, but he is ALSO—this is key—even lazier and more stupid than he was before. And he is promising to do things that will be hard and boring for him.

jamelle@jamellebouie.net

politics hasn’t ended and hard things are hard. i am NOT saying that there are “guardrails” or that trump will be stopped by some other force. i am saying that everything can be a battle if his opponents choose to make it one.

They were careless people, Joe and Mika—they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.

I dont believe it's all throttling but also the UI. The design doesn't optimize commenting, the nesting is annoying, and curation is haphazard.

Molly Jong-Fast@mollyjongfast.bsky.social

The fact that there’s so much more engagement here than on threads seems to point a real throttling of content
