He’s right bc we tax income, not wealth. Bezos takes out a tiny salary, pays the income tax, and lives off loans borrowed against his stocks, basically tax free. They all do this and now 935 billionaires hold more wealth than 170 million Americans. It’s time to tax wealth.

Republicans cant exist without generating a fear and hatred of other citizens. That is why their democracy is failing.

LA mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt won’t stop talking about the apocalyptic results of homeless people using “super meth,” a very scary-sounding drug that does not exist:

"This Supreme Court has shown that it is nothing but an illegitimate arm of the Republican Party. You have Supreme Court justices who swore up and down they respected precedent as it relates to Roe-- the first thing they did is overturn Roe. Same exact thing with redistricting."

Justice Alito relied on misleading data to support his claim that “Black voters now participate in elections at similar rates as the rest of the electorate." Using the DOJ’s data, Alito omitted the fact that the racial voter gap is actually widening. trib.al/QIDuIYb

The United States is not a democracy. It’s a dictatorship of capital where the entire government and both of its parties exist to serve capital not people. Every law written, every budget passed, and every data center approved benefits the rich. Only a revolution can change this.

I wonder if Trump’s new enthusiasm for Scotch whisky extends to Glenfidditch, which he banned from Trump properties after it sponsored a “Scot of the Year” award that went to a farmer who’d opposed Trump’s effort to build his golf course in Scotland.

Historians will note this is exactly what millions of Americans wanted, no matter the consequences: to retaliate against the country for electing a Black President by putting a huge racist in the White House who would constantly refer to every Black person he doesn't like as "low IQ."

Trump: "I heard Hakeem Jeffries, a low IQ person. He's a very low IQ."

An important update: Texas courts created such an unprecedented situation in an emergency filing last night, no one knows who is in charge of InfoWars, and therefore no one can pay rent. Since no one controls these assets right now, it does appear InfoWars will shut down tonight at midnight.

This morning the Supreme Court set voting rights back by more than 6 decades. It's hard for me to see what remains of the Voting Rights Act when the Supreme Court put, quite literally, protecting Republican incumbents over protecting the voting power of Black Americans.

Second (and last) #SCOTUS ruling is the big one, Louisiana v. Callais. For a 6-3 majority (Rs v. Ds), Justice Alito purports to narrow the ability of states to draw majority-minority districts as a remedy for race-based vote dilution, but, per Kagan's dissent, comes pretty close to gutting the VRA:

BREAKING: The Supreme Court has ruled out Louisiana v. Callais, 6-3. A decision that will further weaken the Voting Rights Act. Simply put, this will vastly impede people’s right to vote and increase racial redistricting. Follow this thread for why this is a devastating moment in our history:
