Marissa Mayer is the queen of the two hardest problems in tech: search and sidestepping leading questions from reporters about gender from which no good can come. Also I do want to be-Dazzle things so I can spend more time building interpreters, reading, and making ornaments with my kids.

Every year I make holiday ornaments with my kids over the month of November. This year I got an idea for the shape of a project that will be interesting for and achievable with a 4 and a 7 year old without having to scour Pinterest for hours. This DOES help with the parenting load.

It doesn't mean that I don't know my kids, it means I get time back to spend with them and don't also have to hot glue 500 Popsicle sticks because my vision is not developmentally realistic (this has happened).

Okay I like a NYT oped as much as the next person (variably) but just because "influencer" kind of sounds like "influenza" does not mean we adopted epidemiology language for social media - even though epidemiology and etymology also kinda sound similar.

Reading about the history of IRC like I wasn't there... **kelly-Nintendo HAS ENTERED THE CHAT** kelly-Nintendo: 7/f/MN SomeDude: why is a 7 year old online bergerwitpickles: checkout this kelly-Nintendo: because my mom likes to take apart computers and my little sister is annoying okay?

Fun fact, the main problem with apples is storage and shipping logistics. That's why if you go to an orchard all the boring old varieties are also fantastic. They just are bland ass because of the supply chain. (I also love the apple Renaissance)

Remember how it used to be that you could only get bland ass red delicious apples and occasionally granny smiths? We're in a real apple renaissance now and it's great.

"Nobody responds to email and SMS political campaigns!!???!?!" Okay but have we considered that's a text problem? Every damn one is written like a Prince in Nigeria is holding my democracy hostage. Of course that doesn't work on anyone who grew up with the Internet or corporate fishing training.

Also it's more fun to sing "Stop right now, thank you very much!" while unsubscribing. If my outdated bits are funnier than your campaign, of course no one is responding.

Maybe it's not everything, but Clarissa absolutely DID explain this...

Why do we call it "AI Psychosis" when "BeGenin'Ni" was RIGHT THERE (for those who know Arabic slang)

Anyone who has ever studied CAP theorem or worked on an event processing system inherently understands Jeremy Bearimy timeline

Therapy: Stop intellectualizing everything. Me & O'Gieblyn: I can't conceive of knowledge outside the context of language.

Me & the Witchy Astrology Girlies: Poetry isn't language. Poetry is images and symbols. (And sounds)

Tech events I get invited to speak at: "succeeding as a woman in tech" Tech events I'd like to get invited to speak at: "succeeding as a creative weirdo in tech who keeps having strange side projects run away on them and wants to scale impact while staying weird"

Saw a car with a k8sgr8 license plate and I really hope it's owned by a woman named Kate who admires Catherine the Great and works on Kubernetes

Meghan O'Gieblyn is the best writer, if too humble about how much she understands, but when she asked "How much of science was created by shitty men to rationalize their behavior?" It's not coincidental. Throw a WollSTONEcraft at a ROCKefeller.

I used to be afraid I'd run out of dumb jokes if I posted them, but it turns out all I need to do is go for a jog listening to an audio book and it's a bottomless well actually

Theoretical physicist: don't call it faith, if it's speculative they'll take our funding away Liberal artists: Welcome to the Club! Get tipsy.

Who do you think I am? Kneels to Bohr, be a Hume man. Why is needing to explore the amusement park still revolutionary pedagogy?

Me: literally literally also means figuratively now, even if that makes you feel some type of way Also me: You don't congratulate the bride you offer her best wishes, both because the ancient etiquette legal scrolls proclaim it and also bc joining your life with a man is high risk tolerance proof.

Can I adopt Linus Torvalds as a grandparent (academic sense)? My son is middle named after his grandmother who was best friends with Charles Schulz's little red haired girl muse, so I think we're already etymologically family.

Putting this next to the company slogan in the cafeteria of my future business headquarters.
