Everyone should be fighting for Universal Healthcare and disability rights. Health is fragile. You can become disabled or chronically ill in an instant. It’s not a moral failing. It can wipe out your savings and leave you destitute. Healthcare is a basic human right.

Killing women is the primary reason that Republicans enact abortion bans. They are delighted to kill us.

I got my flu vaccine at my PCP’s office Friday. Then drove to CVS on my way home to get my COVID vax. I usually get them in October, but I am traveling in three weeks. I was exhausted all day Saturday, but feeling great now. Spending the $5 CVS coupon on candy!

I’m taking this as a “challenge accepted” skeet and will never skip daily flossing again. I’m pretty good, but sometimes skip. (always brush twice a day)

Rebecca Watson@skepchick.org

I had a new dentist do my checkup yesterday and I know that bitch didn’t believe me when I said I brush 2-3 times a day and floss twice a day. Quietest fucking exam I’ve ever had. Yeah that’s right, oh, no cavities? No shit. No, I don’t want the goodie bag thanks. Fuck that shitty analog toothbrush.

Last week, I listened to an old NPR podcast episode featuring Riz Ahmed. I loved his story and planned to watch his series Bait. Before I had the chance, I learned that Riz played Snape in Audible's Harry Potter - in 2023! Riz funded hatred of trans people. Fuck him. www.npr.org/2026/08/27/n...

There is a corner of the internet I had never heard of before I started reporting this story. It’s called the “burnerverse”: a network of anon burner accounts ostensibly discussing college sports. But they have another goal: destroying young girls’ lives.🧵: www.wired.com/story/burner...

I went with my sisters to hear Gloria Steinem talk at USF in October 2004. My first impression of her was, "Gosh, she's so tiny!" She was surrounded by huge security guys It was a passionate speech about reproductive rights and the many harms of Republican presidencies. apnews.com/article/glor...

Public service announcement! I once met a woman who did digital outreach for a political campaign; ie, unsolicited fundraising texts. She said “Delete and report as spam” doesn’t work Replying “STOP” does. Do with this as you see fit.

It's hard to fathom that anyone thinks ICE can be reformed or retrained. ICE needs to be dismantled and then cauterized so it can't grow back. #AbolishICE

This death hit hard when I learned of it about a year ago. I read Laura Reiley for over a decade when she was the Tampa Bay Times food critic. To lose your only child this way is unimaginable pain. AI helped to end this young woman. We are left to find meaning and to stop it from killing again.

NPR@npr.org

A 29-year-old woman confided her suicidal thoughts to an AI chatbot — not to her therapist, not to her parents, not to her best friend. What can AI learn from her death?

This is such a sad story. I read another article that said that she asked the bot to write a suicide note that "wouldn't upset her parents." Sophie also lied to and hid things from her human therapist. A symptom of her mental illness. Regulation would be tough, but it could be life saving.

The youngest of my sister’s 3 kids just turned 18, and I’m like, “LET ME HELP YOU REGISTER TO VOTE. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION OF YOUR LIVES.” Trying to be the best aunt.

(1/2) A rare bit of extremely good news. Gov Healey is going to save the life of so many women and infants in Massachusetts. JAMA Network found "...higher than expected infant mortality in states after adoption of abortion bans (...relative increase, 5.60%)." jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...

jamanetwork.comUS Abortion Bans and Infant MortalityThis population-based, cross-sectional study investigates the infant mortality rate following the adoption of complete or 6-week abortion bans in a number of US states.
This post is unavailable.

(2/2) The correlation between maternal mortality and abortion restrictions is also well known. That's why Republicans want to ban abortion. (Killing babies is an added bonus for them.)
