We all gained an hour of sleep over the weekend as the clocks went back, but spare a thought for our collections teams... they've had to change over 2,500 of them across the places we care for!

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today.
Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.
If anyone would like to see a short video of a squirrel summing up how we all feel on a Monday by using a βScreamβ mask feeder (and trust me, once youβve seen it, youβll want one - squirrel sold separately), this is your lucky day and the perfect start to #Halloween π week π±
The kindling pickers will be out in force as soon as the wind calms down. Loads of brash, branches and twigs on all the village roads and the odd bin. #boloe#northumberland

Probably worth saying I live less than three miles from Shilbottle. The road sign rarely survives any βrepairβ to remove the added line which makes it Shitbottle. However, it does have an excellent Indian restaurant and take away. Thanks Pip for barking at it.
This week, Mr Pip has barked at
Neoprene
Fallow deer
Balaclavad cunts
Pop tarts
Paper clips
Dualingo
Prog rock
Fairy doors
Crosby, Stills (but not Nash)
Spaghetti Hoops
Prickle cats
The Volstead Act
CCTV cameras
Coasters
Windsor knots
Adverse cambers
Cobbles
and
Shilbottle.
We're used to our corner of the world being relatively safe and everything on hand and accessible and reliable.
Was not always thus - and many of us can remember a world where you could not always guarantee electricity or even water.
My grandfather - a veteran of WW1 had a whole air raid shelter

A delicate little Roman glass basket. I love the inventiveness of the ancient glass worker who made this delightful vessel about 1,800 years ago π· by me

The Collared Doves nesting in our Wisteria fledged their second chick today (October 15th). Fair play to them, but it really is starting to get chilly so please stop now. #autumn
