Class Warfare 101: Every election many workers are unable to vote because they are too busy selling labor to a capitalist class that also funds the candidates. If our political leaders were working for us, rather than against us and for the oligarchs, they would make Election Day a federal holiday.

He bombed Iran for no reason, spent billions in taxpayer money, killed our troops’, shut down the Strait of Hormuz, and now wants credit for reopening what he broke. Now the bill comes due: military costs, shipping and fuel, reconstruction money, and whatever else. All for an Epstein distraction.

Remember this the next time a Republican congressman from Oklahoma waves around a government report and says in his most affected redneck accent "they're using taxpayer money to study guinea pigs?"

(1/X) I would argue that the vast majority of all commentary is essentially pro-Trump. I don't mean pro-Trump in the sense of liking Trump, I mean it in the sense of them not holding him to the anything close to the same standards as Democratic politicians....

Child protective services ripped a 14-year-old from her home to stop her from leaving the state for an abortion. They also threatened her mother with murder charges and the removal of her other child if they crossed state lines for care. So please don't tell me Republicans aren't banning travel.

In history class, I never understood how “advanced” civilizations could collapse. It just didn’t seem plausible. Anyway, I’ve seen enough. I get it now.

Mother's Day can be bittersweet for those whose mothers suddenly fell down a high flight of stairs after her past allegations of rape surfaced while her ex-husband was facing a new rape trial. May those moms rest in peace on their ex-husbands' golf courses. by Ivanka, Eric, & Donald Trump, Jr.

You know, after reading a couple hundred stories like this, I'm starting to get the vague impression that Bari Weiss might just be an incredibly shitty person and a fairly stupid one at that.

Oliver Darcy@oliverdarcy.bsky.social

Scoop: When she started as editor in chief in October, Bari Weiss believed CBS News journalists were so biased against Israel that she quipped “they might as well be Hamas.” Much more in @status.news: www.status.news/p/bari-weiss...

The richest man owns X. The second and fourth richest men control Google. The third richest man owns The Washington Post. The fifth richest man owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. And now the sixth richest could soon take over both Paramount and Warner Bros. See the problem here?

For the record: The Washington Post is run by partisan hacks who think we won't remember that they took the *exact* opposite stance when it was Republicans pushing their own gerrymandering grab in Texas last year -- *without* putting it up for a vote.

This is a snapshot of the failure of MSM and the concomitant ignorance within the American electorate about what is happening in and to their country.

There's no greater sign of the iron grip that "both sides" framing has on American journalists than the repeated descriptions of the unhinged tantrum Trump is throwing over the pope's anodyne statements on Catholic doctrine as a "feud" or a "fight" or anything else that implies they're both to blame

Donald Trump is now just openly bragging about interfering in the media. He's the president. He's running a truck over the first amendment here.

The Secretary of Defense proudly announcing his intention to commit war crimes that will have the added bonus of putting our own forces in far, far greater danger is maybe the sort of thing that should cause Democratic Members of Congress to start screaming for impeachment. bsky.app/profile/pale...

Hegseth: "We will keep pushing, keep advancing. No quarter, no mercy for our enemies." No quarter is the refusal to take prisoners and instead just execute everyone. It's been considered a war crime for over a century.

The world would literally be a better, safer place right now, if Kamala Harris were president. If you voted for anyone other than Harris or didn’t vote at all, the lawless mayhem we are seeing now is partly on you. This is a fact.

These 3-yr drops are stunning. Absolutely stunning. New Orleans: -55% Baltimore: -60% Philly: -60% Chicago: -40% Buffalo: -55% Pittsburgh: -50% Albuquerque: -40% Newark: -40% San Antonio: -55% Portland: -45% The media coverage of these staggering drops, tho, is staggering in its relative silence.

Project 2025 answers these questions quite straightforwardly, FYI. If more white Americans had bothered to read Project 2025 or even a short summary, the U.S. might’ve avoided the violent Christian White Nationalist transformation we’re all witnessing right now.

What is the end game for ICE? Terrorize one city and move to the next? How many "illegals" are they actually finding for all this effort? Seems like we should be hearing about high numbers being found but we are not because that's not what this seems to be about.

This isn't just a casual observation. Fascism scholars have long made this point. It's why calling them "weird" was a more effective strategy than talking about the prices of eggs. Fascism is an aesthetic political movement - you need to make people feel embarassed and horrified by it.

one of the most effective weapons we have against fascism is mockery, especially when its really funny
