Look, I know all the reasons we got here, but we really need to start seriously thinking about what we do in a world where The Markets punish whole countries for voting for decency, compassion, and fairness. We must stop pretending the capitalist machine is an objective, value neutral force.
Specifically on revenue reform, we are calling for:
1. Adoption of the kicker methodology bill that Rep. Gamba has carried
2. Taking on Measures 5 and 50 directly
3. Fully decouple from HR 1
We're also calling for action on local revenue measures under consideration by Council (i.e., Fair Share).
Now let’s learn from Brazil. The Right sabotaged the elections, interfered with transportation, used AI to makeup shit. They still lost. People power. Power to the people. #brasil
The grand opening of Oregon Viet American Cultural Center was so moving, a dream come true, thanks to the blood, sweat, and tears of the OVACC board and Rep Daniel Nguyen's tireless advocacy. Excited for the amazing things that will sprout from this new community space!
I have been learning from Kevin about this issue since back in my charter commissioner days (bc changing this requires a city vote) and now that I'm a city councilor I've picked it back up and am actively working on solutions. More to come.

This @drmitchpdx.bsky.social ad is one of the best political ads I've seen. I have known Kay for almost a decade and it has been sad to lose her to ALS but she will leave behind an incredible legacy of advocacy. Thanks Kay and thanks Mitch.

The Portland Clean Energy Fund continues to make critical investments in our community. So grateful for this collaboration between PCEF, APANO and the Bird Alliance of Oregon to invest in clean energy on 82nd Avenue.
I was happy to talk to Canary Media about how PCEF is funding projects that keep low income households cool in the summer, make it easier walk/bike/take transit, and lower utility bills through community solar and geothermal-powered affordable housing

We can't let the horrors of this moment blind us to the goodness and courage all around us.
Thank you to all who attended my karaoke birthday bash. Help support Team Pham:

The Data Center Advisory Committee is unsure whether huge corporations that own data centers should receive millions in tax breaks that should fund schools and local governments. Let them know what Oregonians think by Oct 24. Submit your comment through the link in my bio.
I've endorsed @pnwpolicyangel.bsky.social + @teachertiffany2026.bsky.social for District 3 of Portland's City Council (that includes much of Senate District 23!), and @mitchgreen.bsky.social + @jameyevenstar.bsky.social for District 4 on Portland's Westside.
As daughter of Viet refugees and the first Viet Am state senator in Oregon, Jane Fonda's courageous dissent over decades has meant so much to me--showing Americans that we can oppose our govt's policies & exercise our constitutional rights, out of love for our neighbors & our country. #Tina4Oregon

Anything I could say about this election feels like a cliche - "there's so much at stake!" - but I've learned in my years as a community organizer and as a legislator that it's impossible to overstate how critical it is to have leaders who promise to be accountable to our communities.
As a Muslim who has been accused of dual loyalty and asked to denounce everything from ISIS to the Iranian state, I breathed a sigh of relief that I think I’d been holding in for like two decades watching this.
The solidarity and strategic collaboration at the SE Portland PTA Coalition meeting this week is what we need to ensure the best outcomes for PPS students in the coming months. And it's also what we need to grow to build the movement in our state that can adequately fund public education in Oregon.
This statewide voter guide was a huge lift for an editor on a tiny team at a daily news org, and @jmshumway.bsky.social put a ton into this in part because Oregon suffers from a shrinking media ecosystem and many Legislative districts don't have a local news source anymore. Plz read, repost, share!
For the @oregoncapitalchronicle.com's voter guide, I reached out to every candidate for Congress, the #orleg and governor with questions informed by our readers' feedback. Many hours and cups of coffee later, here's the result.

Sabin CDC found that utility debt--not unpaid rent--was the biggest cause of evictions among lower income households they interviewed in NE Portland.
The Portland Clean Energy Fund is helping to keep Portlanders housed by eliminating utility bills outright through this geothermal project.
Voter: So many young people can’t afford to buy a home
James Talarico: I’m hearing this from young people all over the state. In the state legislature, I passed a bipartisan bill to repeal outdated regulations and allow for a new kind of housing to be built here in Texas.
I think @wweek.com and @portlandmercury.com said everything. I appreciate their vote of confidence. I am a fighter and a social worker ready to cut through cheap rhetoric for results. My track record shows that. #orpol#endorsement#election2026#MultnomahCounty
Thank you, @tinakotek.bsky.social for pausing all new data centers until the legislature can convene next year. We must pass strong lasting protections for Oregonians and our environment--and ensure data centers pay their fair share.

I want to be clear that I'm still pushing forward on this resolution and then a moratorium ordinance, in pursuit of ensuring a thoughtful Code development process related to facilities for commercial unmanned aircraft systems. This is not over.
ICE continues to target and disappear our immigrant neighbors, and our community continues to organize to protect and care for one another.

A massive thank you to @khanhphamfororegon.com for her endorsement. She is a fierce advocate for our communities, & having her support means the world to this campaign as we work together to build a stronger, more connected East Portland.
Also happy birthday! #orpol#2026election#multnomahcounty
Went to a Sen.Pham party last night and was awed by a room filled with environmental, housing, and labor advocates who were there to celebrate a fierce and effective fighter for working class families. Thank you, @khanhphamfororegon.com your support and for all you do for Oregon families like mine!
In 2025, Christine Drazan told the Capitol Chronicle that she supported Donald Trump’s decision to send troops to Oregon.
We cannot trust Drazan to defend Oregon against Trump!

Let's support the small businesses that make Portland special, not the mega corporations that funnel billions of dollars out of our community every year.
Also f*ck Live Nation in particular.
More than half of Americans live paycheck to paycheck.
Starbuck's CEO took home $31 million - 1,794 times more their median worker.
Live Nation's CEO made $33 million - 976 times the median pay.
The system has been rigged against the working class, but the Fair Share Tax starts to change that.
I'm fully supportive of the Fair Share Tax proposal introduced by Portland City Councilors this week; I encourage you to reach out to City Hall in support of the initiative to lower taxes on small businesses and raise taxes on large corporations.
Submit testimony in the link below:
Our Fair Share Tax proposal is coming to Committee of the Whole this Thursday morning at 9:30. If you think it’s a good idea to cut taxes for small businesses, raise taxes on large mega corporations, while raising more money to fund critical services then we need to hear from you.
Watch now: Webinar with @sarahanderson.bsky.social, expert on wealth inequality and pay gaps between CEOs and workers. She joined @councilormorillo.bsky.social and me to discuss our Fair Share Tax proposal for Portland: increase on CEO surtax and small biz tax relief. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WLX...
Thanks to @repdexteror.bsky.social and our community for showing up to talk about protecting our democracy, immigrant and trans neighbors, public lands, healthcare, services, roads, transit, and so much under attack from this administration. I am grateful to be in the fight with all of you.
Join Common Cause Oregon's Election Protection Team to defend our vote by mail process from the threats being made by the Trump administration. If you are interested, join the training on October 6th at 6:30 pm in SE Portland or sign up online. https://loom.ly/ScdFpdQ
I’m less than 100 Portland donors from reaching the final tier of Small Donor Elections, and we have to get there before October 13th to qualify! If you or a member of your household support us but haven’t donated yet, now is the time, even $5 goes a long way 💙

The most ordinary man imaginable came to my home state to tell me to ‘get out of America’ while he & Absent Ashley enjoyed the comfort of buildings my ancestors helped build. Imagine standing on the shoulders of the ppl who built this country & then telling their descendants they don’t belong here/2
If you live in D4, rank Jamey Evenstar high on your ballot. I've had the pleasure of working with Jamey for a decade and I need her in city hall.
A Jamie for every district!
Most people don’t know this, but @jamiedunphy.bsky.social and I go way back when we were both policy staff. He was the single most important ally in City Hall that helped get our Fair Access in Renting package of tenant protection reforms passed. He’s a real one, I will be forever grateful. 🥹
not the most important thing, but i did run into christine drazan at opening night for Pride and Prejudice at PCS. she averted her gaze immediately before i had a chance to talk to her and repudiate her whole deal, and then she scuttled into the theater to enjoy Portland’s cultural offerings.
Key point: Safety in AI is not some magical new thing. It‘s putting the same kinds of requirements on these companies that we put on other potentially dangerous industries. It’s the companies doing this, not the technology by itself
