Bring back Minivans and Station Wagons, but make them electric, please! Have you tried fitting in a sedan as a taur? It's miserable! "Just get a truck and take the seat out, Kilo!" I LIVE IN A CITY! I don't need an assault vehicle, I need easy-stow seats, a DVD entertainment system, and 100 MPGe!

I’m sorry let me get this straight, the cops were called because a soccer game was ‘unfair?’ Yeah this kid shouldn’t have been subjected to that *and* this is also a sign that we are Not Fucking Healthy About Sports, Especially Youth Sports

Mass Effect was my ultimate white whale, my all-time dream project. For the last couple years I'd been in discussion w/ BioWare & EA to take on the project & as part of that I wrote close to 20 minutes of music to explore where the franchise can go next, may as well share it!

The amount of people who will drive on a freeway plowed through a black neighborhood while insisting infrastructure isn’t political is terrifying.

See my Making Everything Worse by relaying to project staff that yes it actually Does Matter if we’re below capacity because then overflows happen and that’s Bad which is why unfortunately every increment of flow measurement counts, no this does not mesh well with urges for cost control

And now we've lost the other half of this iconic duo. Paul Prejza, Deborah Sussman's partner in work and life, and a key collaborator on the design team that produced the 1984 Summer Olympics, died on September 21, 2026 at the age of 87

The 1984 Summer Olympics started 40 years ago today. When I interviewed Deborah Sussman about her work on the games, I had no idea it would be the last time I would talk to her before she died. Here's the entire interview, now at home on Torched www.torched.la/an-invasion-...

it is very funny that "queer leftists" get this reputation of being above voting or whatever because my wife and I fill our ballots out with enough reverence it feels like it is a religious ceremony

“Banter with Babushkas” would make an excellent podcast.

New Yorkers experience the abundant contributions of our Eastern European neighbors every day. As we pair syrniki with sour cream in Brighton Beach, look in wonder at a Chagall painting at MoMA and banter with babushkas in Rego Park.

Last week, we celebrated Eastern European heritage at Gracie Mansion, because the story of New York City cannot be told without the story of our Eastern European neighbors.

Amelia Earhart planned her 1937 Pacific Ocean flight from her house in Toluca Lake. In the '30s, she was a constant local presence, flying her single-prop plane in and out of Glendale's & Burbank's airports. A statue of her (with prop) stands by the NoHo Library now in her name.

this is just further proof that the guiding light of Matt's politics is getting negatively polarized by people he sees on social media

Dan Mauler 🎃@meelar.bsky.social

I just think Matt's wrong about this. We're at a point in our technological development where a ton of problems spill over national borders--if Flavio Bolsonaro burns down the Amazon, that will flood houses in Miami.

Over 2,000 alumni from Vivek’s all-boys catholic high school in Cincinnati have signed and circulated a petition demanding that he pull the ad and issue a public apology for “ignoring the moral responsibilities” of his Jesuit education. I think he’s pretty cooked.

chat I don’t think doubling down on this ad is working out real well for vivek

Walter was more than Chekov. He was a writer, a teacher, a thoughtful man, and a loyal friend. To the fans who loved him for so many years, thank you. He loved you too. Rest well, my dear friend. Keep navigating a steady course. – George

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Congrats to Lula on overcoming Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump to defeat Hospital Pervert Jr., even as his opposition literally blocked off roads and turned off bus service during election day. Fascists are scary but they are always, 100% of the time, ultimately gigantic fucking losers.

Ok, but like: “a little bastard in the subconscious” is how a lot of us avoid being assholes - and I’d argue the world would be a better place is more of us had one. Yes, it can go too far and be maladaptive, but still. Hell, that was sort of the storyline of Portal, wasn’t it?

“decided the missing component was a little bastard living in the subconscious”

One of the ongoing lessons of the global resurgence in fascism is that men are FAR more likely to support it than women. There’s a lot of lessons in that, not least of which is the urgency (and dividends!) dismantling patriarchal systems that hurt men and marginalize women.

Jo Wolff@jowolff.bsky.social

Incredible gender difference in voting intention in Brazil.

Hurt people hurt people, after all, and patriarchy is a pain machine: One that radically anplifies the ways hurt men, in particular, pass on that pain.

Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.
