Taxi drivers in Afghanistan are turning on the tunes in their cars, defying a ban imposed by the Taliban government despite the fear of getting caught by morality police. The music that used to flow constantly out of restaurants, cafes and shops in the capital Kabul has been muted for five years

I'm honored and humbled to join the Rails core team. I'll be focusing on security and improvements to Active Storage and Action Text. Please reach out if you have thoughts on what would make your work easier.

Despite all the rolling tools and agentic coding breakthroughs, I still use AI for guided, surgical work, where I'm in complete control of the broader architecture, including having a strong mental model of it. I simply cannot function delegating everything to an agent.

I don’t think we need to make computers fun again. They never stopped, if you ask me.

If you're installing mise via Homebrew, please know that the docs advise against doing so: lovli.fyi/isFa I've made a custom tap that pulls the official release as a cask, and auto-updates: lovli.fyi/GdX7 Feel free to use it directly or fork and customize it as you please!

I may be late to the party, but I installed the Infuse app last night and it’s awesome! Currently using it for streaming from a NAS to the Apple TV and it just works great. Not free, but worth every €c. 🧑‍🍳💋

I'm accidentally finding myself looking at X a lot lately, and it's definitely affecting my mood. I'm sure it's not filled only with deplorable opinions, but those are the only ones I'm running into. Shout out to my ATProto people for making me feel less lonely.

One of my "favorite" dumb Musk things is his deeply held belief that other people aren't real. One of his first moves after taking over Twitter was to try to fire "ghost employees," of which he thought they were many. He's a murderous bigot but he also thinks Fake People are robbing him blind.

I've just deployed a major refactoring of Lovli's frontend, which is MUCH lighter on static assets. I've dropped Pico CSS (in favor of Tailwind, -65KB) and a whole icon font (-300KB). I've also fixed some UI glitches that have been bothering me since day one. HMU if you see anything weird! lovli.fyi

A good cautionary tale for when someone claims that trusting data analysis done with an LLM is good because it’s “objective.” In this example, Copilot apparently decided to ignore the data it was given and just run with all the subconscious biases its (human-made) training data inevitably gave it.

I am working these days on a change to Zeitwerk that will remove a hack. When I wrote the gem, autoloading had been brittle for more than a decade and I wanted to mimic the classic autoloader as much as possible for users' peace of mind. But there was a corner case that had no clean solution.
