Not a whole lot going on, this semester has been kicking my but between work and health. But I'm slowly working on a overhaul of Soundwave for Magfest. I bought a cheap hat for the brim and made a new cap using leftover fabric from the jacket. It's nice to have some motivation again!

Been quiet lately, dealing with some health issues. But going back and looking through my closet. Wailord was a massive costume but a comfy 'big' costumes I've made. I have everything in good shape, maybe I need to see about bringing her out more? 📷@aleestudios.bsky.social 🖌️@3liemarie.bsky.social

Embroidery is not a fast art by any means 🤣 And it's always worse when you go to try to film and suddenly your hands feel totally inept.

Last batch of my Tyranny from Critical Role. I plan to bring her to Magfest, debating the body paint. A combo of Ehlers Danlos skin (no matter how much primer/sealer I use, nothing sticks, not even super glue!) + sensory issues make the makeup a challenge. Photography by @adoylible.bsky.social

Working slowly on another large piece, this my first mammal piece. Doing an Otter with sunflowers for the county fair next year. Goal is to do a lot of fill texture exploration. So enjoy some WIP of some of the sections up close!

It's always little surreal to get the chance to do cosplay at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC. Bringing my Tyranny cosplay from Critical Role there definitely got me more than a few strange looks this time though. Photography by @adoylible.bsky.social

New photos of my Tyranny cosplay from Critical Role at the National Cathedral! I’m so happy with how these came out, especially considering the ordeal that was body paint with my sensory issues. 😂 thank you to my amazing photographer @adoylible for making me look this good. #criticalrolecosplay

Little update, but my fish placed first in Goldwork at the county fair! And the judges had really wonderful things to say about it :D (displayed it upside-down though 😅) It's up at the State fair now to see how it does up there!

Some more Dark Link progress! I knew I wanted glowing rupees, so I printed some hollow pla ones and rigged up a fairy light system. I'm still on a tight budget, so I dug through stash ans used what I had for fabric and notions. Pattern for the hat from @fat_unicorn_cosplay

I swear I'm still kicking, it's just been a rough month! I've started work on Dark Link for Magfest in short bursts as my health allows. While the shoulder isn't the only issue, it's been the main putting a stop work on cosplay. I did manage to start digging in to the scale maille for the shoulder!

Took too long but finally got everybody out of storage to join the kits, posed, and displayed. (With a space left for an Ironhide model kit hopefully coming next month). I struggled with getting them all arranged without looking crazy crowded but I think I struck a balance? #transformers #maccadams

Now for some #cosplay stuff. Finished the cloak for my Hannah Alexander Fly Agaric for #Magfest! The undergarments are a mix of modified and recycled thrift items since this won't be a competition costume (and they're more for modest than anything else).

I know my page (and my followers) follow me primarily for cosplay. And this page won't be dropping that. But what started as learning another skill to further that path has now evolved into it's own offshoot of a hobby.

Done with the stitching on my Goldwork and Silk Betta fish! Next up will be to paste the back, let it dry, and then get it off the frame to be mounted up. So you'll be able to see all the dimensions of the padding. #embroidery #embroideryart #goldworkembroidery

Little more progress, in between camp crazies and being sick. Got the gold Japanese thread all couched down and starting to work on the silk now. #embroidery #embroideryart #goldworkembroidery

Betta fish progress! Been making slow but steady progress on the fish. I've worked out the color and stitch design I want, with a mix of cutwork and couching. I also tried to do more traditional like silk for the cherry blossoms, though it's not strictly that.

One of those 'I just got caught in working and took minimal photos' moments, but got the hat done. The two tone satin was definitely a PITA to work with, but it's good enough. Couple little wig clips stitched in and it'll stay on. Design by @hannah_alexander_artwork

Took a little bit of work, but we're back on track with the cloak. Past me was smart and had planned the front so there were two slots for the arms that I promptly forgot about. Little seam ripping and the pattern is back on track Design Hannah Alexander Artwork

Next embroidery piece is starting to take shape (going from inspired by a Betta fish to a full on Betta fish). Planning it in golds, reds, and brass colors. Still working out which stitches I want where, but was able to get the design on the frame and get the padded sections on.

Every year for Pride, I repost Hue. I made him to send love and comfort to those who feel Pride isn’t for them because they aren’t out. You matter, you are valid, and it’s ok if you aren’t ready yet. Coming out is not a requirement for being part of this community. Happy Pride 🌈

I can either have the squares align in a perfect grid and not have the same angle in the front(bugs me). Or I can chevron the back so they align in the front (also looks ugly AND don't like the ridge the thick trim makes). I basted in the grid for now, must work with pleating/ease at the top.

And no, I'm not looking for help. I know that due to the nature of the pattern/drape, I'm gonna have to sacrifice one of the things I want when I commit.

Okay. So past me was super smart and current me super dumb. I accounted for the patterns to be on open slits for the arms (as per the design). I promptly forgot and stitched them as one cape. Some seam ripping and adjustments later...

I basted in the perfect grid for now, might play with pleating/gathers/ease at the top to get the fronts aligned on angle, but that will only be finalized after all the beading. But I can at least start on the half I like with the long process of hand beading each sequin and their surroundings.

New shelf for my figures is all built! I ended up adding lighting and black contact paper, since the particle board backing looked real cheap. Spread them out a bit too, since I'm not a fan of crunched displays. (Waiting on some prints to mount but almost there!)

#wipwednesday Slowly progressing on Hannah Alexander Fly Agaric. The cape has so many layers and I'm enjoying going slow with handwork. It'll be a bit before I finish blanket stitching the beaded edge and sequins, and then I'll have to work on the checkered lower cape and collar.

I have been slowly and steadily getting my mushroom cape done. The work is repetitive and tedious, which my brain likes to use to shut off. It'll be long stretches between updates, but one of the layers is at least at a stage where it looks like something.

I'm still hanging in there, even if it's been very rough lately. First the absolute crunch of the end of the semester and getting grades in, then our 15 year old Papillon Kenny passed away. Depression has been sapping most of my motivation, which is why my progress for cosplay has slowed.

I may have procrastinated paperwork to dig out all my old Transformers figures from college and try and start arranging them among the new ones. (Well hello hyperfixation from nearly 20 years ago. You have lots to catch up on 😅) #transformers #maccadam #tf

I did at least get the linen pinboard mounted and filled a little, as well as a framed stickerboard. And started a tiny ita bag. Struggled a bit with "is this too much?" But hey it brings me joy, so letting the cringe be cringe. (I'll go tag artists next working day break below).

A class at my kids’ school put up little statements about the good they want to do in the world and I was over the moon about this one - then I learned they meant to say “teach people in jail” which is also good!

Makes me wonder/hope we'll have a renewed interest in people taking art classes... since these kind of lessons are definitely in the scope of all intro classes. Maybe art literacy classes?

Still on Hiatus as we're in thr mad dash until the end of the semester (and I get through a mountain of grading). But figured a little throwback to my year of the tiger. All that hand done silk embroidery took forever, but I was so happy with it! Photography by @amiephotos Design by @uekuraeku
