Come to the second edition of the world wide sodium channel conference! Submit an abstract by September 26.

Oksana Iamshanova@iamshanovao.bsky.social

2nd #WSCC26 will take place in Grindelwald (Switzerland) 🚠 from 4th to 6th of February, 2026. 🌍 Join @lampertlab.bsky.social , @antoniospantazis.bsky.social, @khannalabuf.bsky.social, and others. 💡 Submit abstracts by the 26th of September, 2025: lnkd.in/eDhPUVKd 💻 More info: lnkd.in/eJw9pfMz

Very happy that our science-literature synergism resulting from the worldwide sodium channel conference #WSCC24 in Grindelwald is now out. Ever thought about how the words you are using to describe your results shape how you approach your science? I hope you enjoy reading our article!

Using metaphorical considerations to benefit research on the sodium channel fast inactivation mechanism. New Viewpoint article from Peter Hull @fau.de‬ and Angelika Lampert @lampertlab.bsky.social @rwth.bsky.social: rupress.org/jgp/article/... #VoltageGatedNaChannels #Biophysics #IonChannels

happening today, Tuesday 29th of April!

It will be turbulent in the next worldwide sodium channel seminar: @antoniospantazis.bsky.social will explain why "Even a single carbon atom matters: deadly and unexpected consequences of a Nav1.5 variant" Tuesday April 29th. Visit www.sodiumchannelseminars.org for link and infos. #sodiumchannel

Join us in Berlin in September! It is going to be a great meeting for those of you interested in neuropathic pain, itch and related conditions! #Painresearch #PainScience 🧪🧠

Time is Running out! Submit your poster abstract for #NeuPSIG2025 and present at the leading international pain meeting in Berlin this September. Submission Deadline: 3 March bit.ly/40r4Zz5 #PainScience #Neurology

1/5 Are you interested in the role of Nav1.9 in AP generation? And what do all the other #sodiumchannels do in the nociceptor? In a study led by the MD student Phil Köster in the lab, we performed manual patch clamp on all Navs known to be expressed in sensory neurons. Nav1.1,2,3,5,6,7,8,9.

Köster, Stiehl, @lampertlab.bsky.social and colleagues characterize eight sodium channel subtypes relevant to #nociception and use a computer model to simulate the response of two types of nociceptive nerve fibers. https://buff.ly/4hku7gH #Biophysics #Neuroscience #IonChannels

4/5 We model a CMi-fiber (sleeping nociceptor) and an Adelta-fiber. In both, Nav1.9 significantly contributed to the fast upstroke of the AP and also to the shoulder formation. We can also nicely mimic Nav related disease pathology, like erythromelalgia, in the model.

2/5 We find that – not surprisingly – Nav1.8 activates and inactivates at more depolarized potentials compared to all the other Navs. Nav1.9 – recorded by Enrico Leipold – and Nav1.5 activate at the most hyperpolarized potentials. Nav1.9 has hugh window currents, and prominent persistent currents.

Position at University of New Mexico in Anesthesiology: unm.csod.com/ux/ats/caree... I know that their surgery team has setup human DRG recovery and they are keen on an electrophysiologist who can help them to grow their work in human nociceptor neurobiology.

Cool paper (and great resource). I’m especially keen the disconnect between mRNA and protein levels in adult tissues! Pay attention #devbiol, it’ll be the same in embryonic tissues. www.cell.com/cell/fulltex...

cell.comA Quantitative Proteome Map of the Human BodyProteomics analysis across human tissues from the GTeX resource reveals insight into tissue-specific pathways and phenotypes arising from genetic diseases.
Nikolai Slavov@slavov-n.bsky.social

5,562 proteins were found to have tissue-specific enrichment across 32 human tissues. The majority of them (3,088) are enriched at the protein but not RNA level. The brain hosts the largest number of proteins that are only enriched at the protein level but not RNA level.

Preprint alert: Using human microneurography protocols in PatchSeq experiments on pig DRGs we identify the molecular identity of human dermal CMi-fibers (sleeping nociceptors). We provide an integrated pig-human-more transcriptomic atlas and identify OSMR and SST as marker, backed by human expts.
