We keep telling the government - we don't want automated robo-debt, or data centres everywhere, or aged-care assessment by algorithm, or non-professional NDIS decisions. Employ real people. Pay real wages. Fix hospitals & schools. Tax the squillionaires & giant companies. Can't be any clearer.

Penny Allman-Payne@pennyallmanpayne.com

Older people have been saying this for months. Labor's automation of aged care assessments has been a disaster, under-assessing need and priority, denying care and driving up waitlists. It's past time to bin the whole thing and put humans back in charge of decision-making.

The β€˜lucky country’ wasn’t a compliment. Horne was making the point that our natural resource-based wealth was shaping the national character unfavourably. This is more and more evident. Complacency, selfishness and wilful ignorance. ’Luck’ for some is at the expense of everyone else. #auspol

"Foodbank Australia has called on the federal government to establish a nationalised school breakfast program, with the aim to reach every child by 2030." First, the Albanese govt must acknowledge that any "food insecurity" = policy failure, and 1 in 6 kids living in poverty must be fixed. #auspol

Exactly. But Albanese tries to stay friends with the big end of town while making no big changes in policy to help the struggling demographic. If you want to see why One Nation is growing in popularity look to the failings of the duopoly.

Simon Rosenberg@simonrosenberg.bsky.social

If Albanese wants to turn the temperature down, he must address the valid grievances of those he promised would not be left behind. #auspol

So among Putin and Trump-backed candidates in Central and Eastern Europe we now have Orban as well as Vucic driven out of power by the kind of popular mobilisation that Putin and Trump do not seem psychologically equipped to understand

Always it is someone else's fault we lost. The real reason is for all parties that lose an election....you are on the nose, we don't support you and you policies any more. Defeated parties never say 'We made mistakes. We will listen. We will be back'.

Vučić’s defeat could mark a geopolitical turning point for Serbia. It could also inject fresh momentum into EU enlargement across the W. Balkans, where progress has stalled for years. A Serbia firmly anchored in Europe would transform the region’s outlook and significantly weaken Russia’s influence

Sternenko is a credible person. Elon Musk has been found to have a pathological disregard for the truth and repeatedly gives perjured testimony under oath. Who would you believe? In any event, the truth is easily discernible through objective means.

Trump and Musk are just stringing Ukraine along and letting Russia attack it with impunity. And the American press is foolishly falling for blue smoke and mirrors, arguing whether Musk or Trump are responsible. Hint, they both are!
