The EU has delivered greater stability across the continent, greater mobility for its citizens, and a single market that gives Europe global economic weight. An honour to hear President von der Leyen address the European Parliament today as we build a deeper partnership for the future.

Write to your MP. Any response @libdems.org.uk ?

As Britain swelters through another heatwave, few people will have heard that ministers have quietly dropped plans for solar carports. Cars cooler in summer. Shelter from the rain in winter. Clean electricity all year round. A missed opportunity?

A new government sets its direction early. I've just signed European Movement UK's petition asking Andy Burnham to drop the red lines on Europe and set out a real plan for the UK's European future. Add your name: www.europeanmovement.co.uk/5_asks_for_a...

In the “just because you can, doesn’t mean you should” department this is one of the worst I’ve seen. Imagine what this will do to the circadian rhythms and cycles of, well, every bloody thing in its path? Approval no doubt instant. Prob a Trump family investment www.nytimes.com/2026/07/10/c...

I’m irrationally excited. My tickets booked. Bring it on. @britishmuseum.bsky.social thank you!!!

Nearly 1,000 years in the making. The Bayeux Tapestry is in London, back on British soil for the first time in almost a millennium. We can't wait to welcome thousands to the capital for this once-in-a-generation event.

The Chancellor has the power to stop Farage's cynical ploy. I've written to her this morning urging her to act. Farage should not be allowed to resign until the investigation into his dodgy dealings has concluded. The people of Clacton deserve the facts first.

Absolutely absolutely absolutely. Don’t let him slip and slither out from the scrutiny. He knows there’s dirt to be found. Thanks @eddavey.libdems.org.uk

The Government must block Nigel Farage’s resignation until the Standards Commissioner finishes investigating him. The people of Clacton deserve the full facts. If a by-election does go ahead, all parties should stand aside. We cannot give oxygen to this vanity project.

My reflection on the Brexit anniversary is that I moved home to the UK in 2015 to establish a beachhead and then bought over the rest of my dual national family a year later. “Don’t like the direction of politics in the US. Get over here. It’s great. We’re part Europe!” Then…

Happy to be on beautiful Dorset coast for our family summer hols this year. Taken my American born (and now British citizen) children and husband to all parts of GB to discover how amazing it is. We’ve done Cornwall, Peak District, Lake District, Wales and now Dorset. All fab. Happy.

It was great meeting with the talented folks who’ll be working at the Obama Presidential Center. We're excited to welcome everybody here soon!

This made me feel so so much better. It can’t be that hard to be a politician like this. Or actually maybe it is. Because vanishingly few manage it.

Today, I signed an Executive Order temporarily repealing bedtimes in the City of New York so that kids of all ages can watch our team in the NBA Finals. As Mayor, you’re forced to make many difficult decisions. This was not one of them. Go Knicks.

My 30 year old liberal daughter in London got this actual ad in her Instagram feed. She’s a honest woman. She says it was real. I mean really? This would not be the home decor I would have pegged for her. Or any of her friends. Or any of her family.

I’ve reached Oxford! Alone. Just me, my backpack and a lovely hazel staff. Stage one of my Thames Pilgrim Way walk — source to Oxford, the first 55 miles — is done. I began last Thursday to raise funds for the British Pilgrimage Trust 🧵

What that does: • £200 subsidises a place for a pilgrim who couldn’t otherwise come • £450 trains a new Pilgrim Guide • £5,000 — my goal — creates a whole new three-day bereavement journey Practical, low-cost, nature-based support rooted in real human connection.

I care about this charity so much I became a Trustee in 2024. The Thames Path is one of Britain’s best-known footpaths, but this whole landscape is a holy place — the river flowing east toward the dawn, once given offerings of treasure by the ancient Celts.
