This has been my experience as well. We should use social media that doesn’t make us feel terrible and anxious. This is the one I’ve found for this moment. That might change down the line, but right now this is the best I’ve found.

I live in a rural town and, like, I don't know how to tell you this, but the girls play on the boys team and vice versa all the time because otherwise we don't have enough players for a game and it's literally always fine so stop being weirdos about kids sports and just let trans kids play.

Makes sense that the Browns are on here given their current QB situation

Ramaswamy has produced an attack ad weaponizing the rape of his opponent, Amy Acton, when she was 12 years old. It features Acton’s mother, who abandoned Acton after she was raped by her step-father, fleeing the state with her husband. Here is the corporate money helping fund that ad.

Not for nothing but PBS does election night coverage and we work really really really hard on it. Union shop as well!

Scoop from @brettlogiurato.bsky.social: CBS has sold its local election night coverage to DraftKings, stirring more controversy inside the David Ellison-owned company. Details in @status.news: www.status.news/p/cbs-draftk...

I know a lot of people will shit on this, but this is a proven way to decrease accidents and doesn’t rely on police interactions. Obviously the devil is in the details on if it’s increasing the surveillance state, but I’m willing to give the mayor the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise

They got the sparks in the final sword fight by hooking the swords up to car batteries, with the wires running up the pant legs and sleeves of the actors.

For some reason I love the fact that they had to halt production on Highlander several times because they insisted they use real, sharp swords and the actors kept cutting themselves.

They call it a 'dish' washer but you can wash almost anything in there if you don't really care what happens to it

We all know the "Viggo broke his toe" story but what's another movie fact you're personally compelled to bring up every time without prompting? For me, it's the fact that Robin Tunney is wearing a wig in The Craft because of having just shaved her head to save her job filming Empire Records.

As someone whose employer is investing heavily in AI right now, I can speak from experience that this is not in the calculations for pushing AI in the slightest. It’s to get even more production out of you.

What an absolute piece of shit.

Samuel Alito: We won't overturn Obergefell because it's engendered reliance interests. Jan Crawford: Well, many people had organized their lives around Roe v. Wade. Alito: No, they didn't. Women merely had an "abstract" interest in "ideas about the kind of society that they were going to live in."

A very lovely story

Gail Simone@gailsimone.bsky.social

You guys want to hear a short but adorable story that happened right in front of me at the baggage claim in NYC yesterday? I wasn't part of it and there are bits I didn't catch but holy crap, I can't stop thinking about it.

In my experience, kids today are more empathetic and kinder than my generation. It fills me with real hope for the future despite everything else going on right now.

i challenge you to post one optimistic take or belief today on bluesky this needn’t be toxic positivity, just good ol’ run of the mill optimism/hope in the face of a torrential downpour of doom
