I can't get into Veilguard discourse again but I keep seeing people saying it dumbed down the RPG mechanics compared to the previous games and while it certainly is An Action Game in a way previous games weren't, man none of those games had fun builds in the way Veilguard does.
Previous Dragon Age games had builds that boiled down to taking a bunch of semi-related abilities in a skill tree, increasing stats, and wearing armour that increased those stats more. Which was fine, but nothing ever scratched my brain in the way the build combos I found in Veilguard did.
I still need about 70 dollars to get my computer fixed. If anyone has anything to spare, I'd really appreciate it. (Please ignore deadname) www.paypal.com/paypalme/muk...
[girl in her 30s whose late 2000s high school wardrobe is falling apart voice] hey what are good pants these days. what do they make anymore that will still be intact in five years. serious question
- Ubiquitous
- Boring
- Repetitive
- Loved by the most annoying people
- Increasingly full of AI-generated content (in fairness this is just universal to both industries)
- And of course, both support the US military industrial complex.
Beyond all of the ethical issues, my biggest problem with all the vibecoded things coming out is this: Not knowing how what you're making works is an extremely dangerous path to go down.
Love how Warframe expands on this concept by saying "what if it was also a kyoketsu-shoge" and "what if it was used to cast unbinding spells on liches"
BE AWARE:
TEN FOOT TWENTY: THE FLOWER MAN
SIX FOOT TWENTY, MADE OF RADIATION: GEORGE WASHINGTON
KNOW THE DIFFERENCE. HE'S COMING. HE'S COMING. HE'S COMING
The time has come, immsim sickos...

Have you noticed, lately, or noticed people around you commenting, that there just seems to be no money anymore. There's no money for companies to make the tv shows you like, the video games you like, the local diner you like shut down, no one you know can find a job.
Think about that in context of
AI is now the biggest investment in all of US history as a percentage of GDP.
Datacenter construction is up, all other construction is down.
"AI Is Squeezing Out the Rest of the Stock Market," reported WSJ 2 days ago.
We basically bet the whole economy on the most optimistic visions panning out.
Yesterday's news about Jacob Geller broke my heart, so much that I couldn't stop dwelling on it all day. In an effort to make sense of this horrific news and my admittedly complicated feelings about it, here is my article on the Jacob Geller situation:

Halloween is very much a film that I think is disdainful of the suburbanite while also fully believing in all the things they're afraid of. It is also deeply afraid of autistic people, so very conservative. also? Very good.
They fired so many artists over this too. People who helped make the game iconic were tossed out on the street because the Slop Faucet could do it "decent enough".
If you still play Fortnite, you're funding the hyper-acceleration of AI replacing Artists in Gaming
this is the inevitable result of years of games focused entirely on fidelity and players being afraid to miss things or fail so now we get games that are the equivalent of a dog thats been bred to emphasize all its cutest traits but now it can barely breathe or move around and u just feel bad for it
this bit from skill up's review of wolverine knocked me on my ass, it feels like something that wouldve come out of one of those focus m parody videos but its in a real triple A game
when a GBA game looks great it's like an alternate timeline where the SEGA Saturn kept going for 5 more years but everyone decided to outdo each other's pixel-art and when a GBA game looks bad it's like you're looking at an edutainment java game for cellphones
me: hi gimme a large pizza
pizza guy: any appetizers?
me: what do you have?
pizza guy: we've got fried cheese with no sauce or crust, crust with no cheese or sauce, and crust and cheese with no sauce
me: gimme crust and cheese with no sauce
pizza guy: and for your dip?
me: sauce
