It's scary and impoverished out there for trans folks and I'm going to have to upend my life pretty soon. My wonderful friends and bandmates put this together to help out — if you can help in anyway, with a few bucks or a share, it would make this tgirl's life a lot easier gofund.me/55321f9d3

at this point seeing a real fan-translation from real people feels like a cool glass of water in a terrible desert. god bless the human beings who keep doing this (hard, tedious, long) work in spite of everything

Happy #FeatureFriday, folks! This is the day of the week, where we turn over every stone we see in order to find an album by a Bluesky artist we can present to you. Today, we have a (possibly literal) bedroom-recording: "Postcards from Cuervo" by @lastyearsmodel.bsky.social! Here are our reviews:

untidydownloads.com#FeatureFriday Postcards from Cuervo by Max the BandPostcards from Cuervo by Max the Band 12 songs written and recorded in New Mexico over the month of August. I don’t think you can have a recording more simple and raw than this. It’s literally noth…

this is so cool! i thought music blogging was dead but it turns out it's not only alive and thriving but digging through the internet to find shit no one else is listening to? Like old times? God that's so refreshing. thank you so much for the generous review, can't wait to dig through the archives!

Everyone in creative work for hire knows most of the job is clients asking you for something bad and stupid and you figuring out how to make something completely different while convincing them it's what they asked for. The AI era means everyone gets to see what clients actually want

Turns out the friction of having to learn photoshop was a crucial firewall protecting society from the terrible taste of small business owners

the indian drum sketch has stuck with me forever for its sheer inexplicability but i'm gonna have to go with the one where they all wanna be women. Bruce saying lesbians are great because "they get so much done in a day" plays in my head 24/7

I feel it’s crazy that nobody outside of trans people and REALLY invested allies seems to know that the internal trans refugee crisis is one of the biggest internal refugee migrations the United States has ever experienced.

Casey S. Pumpkins 🎃@caseyexplosion.bsky.social

Like, you know there's an internal refugee crisis facing the US with trans people fleeing their home states, right? Can you understand why trans people might be more than a little on edge, stressed, angry because of the way we're treated? Perhaps extend a little understanding and empathy.

what's crazy to me about this is that there are Indian and Asian students at every flagship university in Texas because that's who lives here and gets into our top colleges. It was like this a decade ago!!!

Matthew Gertz@mattgertz.bsky.social

Benny Johnson and Jack Posobiec defended Bo French’s racist post, saying that “there’s nothing wrong with wanting Texas to stay Texas” and “I don't see anything hateful about it” www.mediamatters.org/benny-johnso...

this is sort of a separate point but this is also why i love Audrey's shirts. I think it's honestly more provocative these days to attach the statement specifically to oneself, to insist that it's the kind of preference one can have, without making it a proclamation over all trans-kind

girl Jughead@audreyotherway.bsky.social

my personal feeling on this is the reason the "I Don't Want To Look Or Be Cis" shirts start with "I" instead of saying "Don't Look Or Be Cis" as a blanket. things that (whether intentionally or not) imply a homogeneous trans experience just don't feel productive to me

it's common for marginalized groups to monolithize themselves, so as to appear as more of a united front or insist upon community, which is why I think openly displaying the wide spectrum of what an identity can mean and want is ultimately a more radical act, that we are unified and distinct

with reference to Jay's point, it's just such an over-correction. i love having a dick, i'm all for women loving their dicks, that wasn't really celebrated for a long time. but now it's less a celebration and more "trans women are chicks with dicks," which is kind of a regression to tranny porn.

while i think the "grunge's Kid A moment" thing is a bit much, No Code is definitely an underrated and compelling album in a lot of ways if you've never heard it. me and @lastyearsmodel.bsky.social did a podcast episode about it a few years back btw kitschfork.podbean.com/e/15-better-...

I believe all women are natural pilots. I believe the term "a woman's intuition" refers to her God-given proclivities toward understanding such concepts as yaw, pitch, and roll. That's just how I am.

truly? honestly? i love bubsy 3d. i liked bubsy 2 as a child so the character doesn't bug me too much and i just really love exploring those surreal, textureless, abstract worlds. if i was trying to beat it, maybe i'd hate it, but i love just going around it.

Kayin@kayin.moe

OKAY LETS HAVE FUN. "Most critically acclaimed thing you hate" is like a free square, so lets hear THE CRITICALLY WORST GAME YOU LIKE. Bonus points if it's actually bad, but 'It's actually slept on' is fine. Mine is probably Jurassic Park: Trespasser. Magical, shitty game.

To be isolated for all of that, yeah, I can absolutely see how that would affect your social skills, your ability to know what a party is even like and how to throw or be at one. It affected mine and I was well into my 30s!

i feel like i'm not cool enough for this exercise but here's what i got

girl Jughead@audreyotherway.bsky.social

this was so hard b/c the Closet has a lot of stuff in my top 20 but missing a few things I would put top 10. Akerman is my fave but Je tu il elle is the reason I have to take that boxset. also fun fact, it's release #1203 & my birthday is 12/03!

i don't post about it much but i've part of a podcast on my favorite game series everyone hates and we finally got to my favorite game in my favorite series that everyone hates

In this episode we dive into the one true technology that holds the future in its hands... The CD! (link in the post below)

there is something to this. when i had to wake up at like 5AM and sit through the farm report just to watch the occasional ep of dragonball or sailor moon, that was the sweetest plum right there.

If you listen really closely you can hear Eddie Vedder yell like Waluigi at the beginning of Evenflow. But it'll really get you to thinking when you realize that Evenflow predates Waluigi by many years. So it's probably more appropriate to say that Waluigi sounds like Eddie Vedder.

I mean it wasn't all sunshine and roses — trans women were still a major joke, there were murders, etc — but it really says something about where we're at now that the 90's would seem idyllic.
