ladies, is your programming - a field dominated by rich white men - driven by fashion trends - practiced as a demonstration of status - funded by vanity projects for failsons - filled with queers trying and failing to break even that's art, sorry

I don’t know how people could say that programming and art are completely different disciplines when both workflows involve going ‘This will never work, I’m a failure’, changing one thing, then thinking you might be the smartest person alive

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

If I got voted out of the Traitors as a faithful I’d be so bitter. My speech would be mean and petty. I’d keep it going on socials after the season.

If the White Sox win the World Series, I will be forced the concede that Catholicism is correct. I’m not one of those Game of Thrones characters that watches a red priestess do magic and keeps worshipping the Seven.

“Chinga la migra, which for the non-Spanish speakers in the audience, means ‘we find ICE’s activities to be problematic’”

Congratulations to @lookitup.baby for being the first person I've heard say "chinga la migra" on stage at a tech conference 🔥🔥🔥 @blueteamcon.com

yeah man "woke 1" sucked ass. I "woke 1" morning from uneasy dreams to find myself transformed into a giant insect

One weird thing about flying lately is the flight attendant will announce: “We are going through severe turbulence. It is very dangerous. You must remain in your seat for your own safety” and half a dozen other passengers are like “Time to take a fucking walk."

After a week of doctors’ appointments, I can report that non-software people do not seem too impressed with AI. My physical therapist compared it to a slot machine and the nurse at my allergist’s office is loudly listening to Better Offline.

I like that Charlotte Brontë was basically telling a soapy saga about how the world is a hard and complicated place and sometimes Shit Happens, and Jane Austen is just like, “I’ve met the worst and simultaneously most boring people you can imagine. Hunker down, let me tell you all about them.”

Little Bosses Everywhere is such a great read. Plus, there’s a surprising chapter where Bill Ackman is almost the good guy before it gets too hard and he gives up.

Partway through Bridget Read's unmissable chronicle of pyramid ("multi-level marketing") schemes, *Little Bosses Everywhere*, there comes a dual revelation: no one is selling any product to end-users *and* no one knows it: pluralistic.net/2025/05/05/f... 1/

I’ve been obsessed with the reflecting pool story as a break from all the higher stakes, extremely depressing news and these photos of the guy who owns the contracting company are *chef’s kiss*

It’s boring to think about whether you could make The Office today. The answer is too obviously yes. I want to know if you could make Superstore today or would the bosses shut it down?

I’m not sure if YouTube is a positive force on the whole. On the one hand, I can find old episodes of the Critic. On the other hand, my mom is learning about the new quantum physics “they” don’t want you to know about.

I don’t care about the fallout, it’s always funny when bad things happen to Trump’s enablers. John Cornyn losing. James Comey’s legal harassment. It’s all very, very funny.

Finally catching up on the Survivor finale. If this season was really “in the hands of the fans” we would’ve been able to vote on just giving Cirie a bunch of idols no strings attached.

In the entire history of Survivor, there have only been two good family visits: Jonny Fairplay (obvs) and Colby screaming at his brother for being so bad at challenges
