Shout if you're a historian potentially interested in coming on for this one. i want to cover the discussions on repatriation, changes to headstones and Anglican ritual, and post-war grave tourism and grave photography services. @caitlindeangelis.bsky.social your wheelhouse maybe?

i really want to do a pod episode on the emotional mechanics of post-war rememberance. the logistics and architecture are both fascinating, but we don't talk enough about its impact on both national and personal approaches to grief.

This removes from view the subjects most UK undergraduates and taught postgraduates study, subjects that by the government's own data outperform STEM subjects internationally (www.gov.uk/government/p... ) and that top many QS rankings. Our infrastructure is under attack, if only we could see it.

The real unfair competition women are being forced into with men is having women's sports constantly separated off as a distinct event which is made to compete commercially with much better funded and socially and institutionally enfranchised men's sporting events & found inadequate by that standard

Prince Maurice's grave is interesting, because it was a good example of the conflicting thoughts families had. Princess Beatrice refused repatriation of the body. She felt he belonged with his men. But she fought for years for the right to spend her own money on a custom headstone. This was blocked

As a published researcher, I do not want to submit my unpublished work to a company that is going to run it through an AI. If I’ve spent months working on it, a peer reviewer can do me the courtesy of spending half an hour reading it. Anyone else feel the same?

How can AI support researchers in peer review? Springer Nature and Google DeepMind are partnering to co-design an AI peer review assistant that helps reviewers navigate manuscripts and focus on where their scientific judgement matters most. Learn more: spklr.io/63320EVgT8

This whole thread about the Brazilian election but I'm boggling - a whatsapp group with 10 million people on it

Bruno Dies@brunodias.dev

At one point he had a Whatsapp group with 10 million people in it, coordinating action. Which I didn't even think whatsapp was infrastructurally designed to support. And yes, whatsapp is of course a meta network, but the strategy was to be everywhere, to act redundantly, to be unbannable.

That’s the common theme in what I’m writing I think. White mid-upper class academic men are allowed to have flaws, allowed to do (actually terrible) things, and have them forgiven/forgotten. But for w-class men (Bill Varley), women (Maud Cunnington), MOC (Arday) one mistake or flaw is unforgivable.

Recommend having a good scroll through the quote-posts of this. We know that only consuming negative media and not intentionally working to disrupt negative thinking can have a huge long-term impact on your outlook, mood, and health. It's cheesy, but to combat the bad, you do need to see the good.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?
