3/4 This space rewards specificity, partnerships, and cultural fluency. It takes more than an interest in gaming. It takes lived experience and strategic insight.

4/4 If your organisation is serious about exploring the gaming space, whether for fundraising, awareness, or partnership work, I want to help you do it right the first time rather than watch you try and fail, and then lose the drive to push on. Let’s chat. www.levelupjake.com/working-with...

2/4 Because the games industry isn’t just one thing. It’s developers, platforms, streamers, communities, publishers, digital culture, events, funding structures. And none of it follows traditional charity playbooks, nor is there a blanket recipe for success.

The potential is HUGE, but without the right support and strategy, charities can feel stuck, or attempts to connect fall short and are neglected in favour of more traditional and established (the comfort zone) areas of fundraising and awareness.

1/2 Skepticism & Brand Alignment: Some charities and supporters may struggle to see the connection between gaming, streaming, and the cause. One of the key concerns is how the cause can be represented effectively, especially in unfamiliar territory: ie in the gaming/streaming spaces.

2/2 The potential for mass exposure to new audiences can be daunting, raising concerns about misrepresentation or losing the core message. However, these fears are often unfounded and can be overcome by having better understanding of the space.

Audience Engagement: Building a community is crucial. Many charities struggle to find ways to connect with gamers and streamers, missing out on the power of a loyal, active community ready to support causes who they resonate with.

Content Creation: Fundraising streams require consistent, high-quality content to keep their audiences engaged. Not all charities have the capacity or resources to create engaging content that gamers & streamers expect & need to support you in the ways that work for them and their communities.

Lack of in-house Expertise: Charities often lack the knowledge of how gaming partnerships & streaming works. There are many opportunities in the world of gaming & streaming which look amazing from the outside, but can feel completely alien when attempting to step into it without knowledge/expertise.

Technology Barrier: Streaming requires unique equipment, software. For charities working on tight budgets, this is a challenge. But, you don’t have to stream yourself to make an impact or connection. Most charity fundraising success comes from external partnerships & collaborations.

3/3 My aim in providing this list is to help with the first foundation for charities to get into the streaming world with confidence and knowledge, and to engage with streamers in a more authentic and connected way.

2/3 It contains most of the commonly used words and terms in the live streaming ecosystems as well as some more niche terms which I felt were valuable for the charity sector specifically.

2/5 but quite often creates road blocks in collaboration with other teams within the organisation (that you inevitably need to work with to get things off the ground: comms, digital, marketing, senior management, other fundraising teams, etc).

3/5 To further democratise and bridge the gap between the charity sector and the gaming worlds, I’m creating free resources in hopes to make it easier for everyone involved, and shorten the time needed for ground work. To start, I’ve published the...

1/2 As a charity, you would know that women donate more than men, and that donating digitally is the leading method for giving. However, what you might not know is that women also make up nearly half of the global gamer population and in some categories, actually out play men. #IWD2025

2/2 By embracing this demographic and exploring creative ways to connect with women who play games, you could open new avenues for support, engagement, and fundraising.

1/8 I owe my current career to #MonsterHunter. The game has always been a big part of my personal & professional life. Joining the team that brought MH to the truly global playerbase back in 2014 from their European HQ was the very first step of an amazing journey that led me to where I am today.

5/8 Just imagine the impact Monster Hunter Wilds is having now in terms of spreading that ecological knowledge. Wild, indeed (pun fully intended)! As someone with a degree in Animal Conservation and Biodiversity (hence my chosen career to support NGOs and Charities), you can imagine my excitement!

6/8 I have always advocated for non-profit organisations and charities to tap into the commercial video games space for more than just fundraising. It is an excellent space to spread awareness and get people excited about your cause. Capturing the attention of the younger generations is proven...
