Your voices have been heard! After the massive fire at Dunwich Heath in July, 140,000 people signed our petition calling on Government to make climate resilience a national mission and restore nature to help curb wildfires.

Only 3% of our wildflower meadows are left. Please share this post if you agree we should give pollinating insects a fighting chance by growing wildflowers in our gardens, communities, towns and countryside, and by avoiding pesticides and weedkillers ๐Ÿ

The chance to keep global warming below 1.5ยฐC with no overshoot is gone. But urgent action can still limit the overshoot and bring warming back to 1.5ยฐC by 2100. Current policies, however, put the ๐ŸŒŽ on course for up to 2.8ยฐC this century. New #EmissionsGap Report: https://ow.ly/SNHX50ZZz8l

We don't do shout-outs, as the term makes me feel ill, so a cheery "well done everybody" to all these folks who have planted wildflowers for the project in past couple of weeks. Special thanks to local #YHA staff for their regular visits. (1/2)

Owning woodland means you regularly see bits of deflated balloon and shreds of lantern tangled in branches and undergrowth. The worst are the plastic foil ones which last indefinitely.

Balloon releasers seem to think they never come down. In the Fens we often see them in drainage dykes like this one. Not a diy recovery: banks are 3m tall and a slip means you're in +2m of water. The drainage board had to send a team to remove it as it was big enough to block a sluice or culvert.

I signed a petition to ban them. The government replied that there aren't enough incidents of damage to justify that. It is still littering! I could drop a piece of paper or plastic on the street and I can be fined. Yet I could let go of a lantern or balloon deliberately and that's ok. Madness.

Balloon and lantern releases create litter and #plasticpollution in landscapes and seas that can harm the environment, wildlife and livestock. Celebrate special occasions and loved ones by planting trees, wildflowers, or bee and butterfly gardens instead! Pic via Keep Britain Tidy

Forests stabilize climate better than ANY tech we've invented. And protecting an existing forest stores 8-12x more carbon than planting a new one. We don't need to invent the future. We need to protect it. ๐ŸŒฒ

Restoring UK orchards is vital! While community action like garden planting helps, reversing 60 years of habitat loss requires public investment. We need policy supporting sustainable agriculture, protected green spaces, and community land accessโ€”putting ecological health over developer profits.
