“Malevolent leaders” thousands of miles away with a grip on our energy bills. Perfect Halloween material, if only it were made up. Tomorrow’s Budget decides the future of the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS), the government grant that knocks thousands off the cost of a heat pump. (1/5 🧵)

Bonfire piles can look like the perfect cosy hiding spot for amphibians, reptiles and other wildlife. Help keep them safe by building your bonfire as late as possible and checking carefully before lighting. Find out more about keeping wildlife safe: https://ow.ly/5eFx51001wU

More Brexit Benefits.

Where’s the protests against this ? Farage won’t ever talking about things like this incidentally Ive been waiting 5 + hours for a French barcode so far and can’t book a train without it .. supposed to have left at 7 am .. stuck at home can’t even load as pointless #Brexit

This is how solar should be done. When West Suffolk objected to a massive solar farm on the Suffolk/Cambs border, with every other local council, they were called nimbies in spite of owning a solar farm. Now here they are building another literally in their own backyard without abusing farmland.

Cliff Waterman@westsuffolkcliff.bsky.social

West Suffolk Council's solar canopies over car parks project will save tons of carbon, generate welcome funds to help keep council tax bills down, and keep your car cool in the summer. New information boards up at the Mildenhall explain it all!

A relative has just told us two things that beggar belief. 1: They've just bought a new petrol car when they have solar panels because they think the EV charging infrastructure isn't there. 2: They think Farage and Lowe could sort out the country.

Oddly, having objected to a wind farm saying it will put us at risk of sabotage, Timothy has now voiced his support for a factory near RAF Mildenhall that makes drones for Ukraine. bsky.app/profile/jphe...

Timothy is so determined to be anti renewables he invents daft objections. He claims having them "near" airbases will encourage sabotage but this site is 5mi from both RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall. Would a coal fired power station be less of a sabotage risk? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Happy 100th birthday, Winnie-the-Pooh! Did you know that Winnie was based on a real Canadian-British bear—and that his full name was WINNIPEG?

Winter is coming. This morning the winter's first flock of whooper swans flew over having migrated from Iceland. Only about 30 but earlier than usual and they'll be joined by 1,000s in the next few weeks. They flew in over, and later landed on, fields now subject to plans for a 200m tall wind farm.

This turnstone walked so determinedly towards the seal it looked as if it was going to flip the animal over like a big pebble but at the last minute it swerved around it. Wraxham, North Norfolk, UK.

Keep seeing Americans on here bleeting about paying around $7 a gallon for diesel so I looked up what the UK average of £1.988 a litre is in US gallons. We're paying the equivalent of $9.85/US gallon and none of us voted for the orange war monger. #Trump

Worrying scenes in the Channel today, for all interested in asylum policy and maritime tactics. A small boat from Normandy spent more than 30 hours at sea. Those on board now on their 2nd rescue vessel as Border Force forced to play cat and mouse with far-right activists who have their own boat.

Just look at the glee on Nigel Farage’s face as he watches a Piddington resident cry about the overt racism she, her Caribbean heritage husband, and their two children have felt in the village during the referendum. Time and again he’s showing us exactly who he is.
