Had this idea in lockdown, half-built it, forgot about it, remembered it again, though might as well finish it.

This weekend has mainly been watching other people race (and helping make it possible). Hill climb yesterday, junior parkrun and cx today!

First CX race of season, quite a shock to the system and some tricky features to handle.

Two weeks, 1055km, five countries, two park runs, the Black Forest, the Eifel, lots of cake, and a fair amount of radler, we're done. Zurich (Switzerland) to Ijmuiden (Netherlands) done. All ducks present and correct. Legs possibly less so.

Zegerplas #parkrun. I finally got a Z, after cycling here from Zurich. Legs tired but managed 1st lady and 11th overall in the slowest time I'll ever manage that! Another 50km on the bike done afterwards and now we're almost at the ferry home

Our cycle tours often accidentally bump into local festivals. This time it's Speyer Altstadtfest turning the town into a party

Second night in a cabin aboard transport. When we wake from this one, we'll have crossed two borders and be in the heart of Zurich. Then we'll have to cycle back to the start! 😁

Our bike tours often involve bike races and parkruns, and this one managed to tick both boxes before we even got on our bikes! Millfield parkrun and the Tour of Britain in Easingwold on the way to the ferry. There will be a bit more cycling tomorrow though!

A year ago tomorrow I was hit by a car on a ride. It's been a long road back with initial non union and surgery after 6 months, but yesterday I ran my best time since 2011 at my home #parkrun, and today I rode 100 miles. I think I can say I'm recovered now!

Someone decided to pin their colours to the mast on today's ride! 😁

@nedboulting.bsky.social A couple of times Lizzie has said it's the first ITT in the TDFF on the pod. It may only have been short (6.3km), but you need to remind her she rode one in Rotterdam in the 2024 edition! 😁

Only realised when I got to this evening's gig at Millennium Square that I'm making an early start on advertising the event that will be taking place here next July...

Nearly go for the biggest cycle race of the week

Bike by bike. I needed to get a track bike to the nearby grass track, and the easiest way was in the bucket of a cargo bike!

When choosing a pub for my birthday lunch the one that specifically mentioned a bike parking area on its website won. They might not have been the best racks in the world but I appreciate the effort!

1. London Underground station flooding has reportedly been reduced by around 90% thanks to a group of engineers: beavers. After conservationists reintroduced a family of beavers into a nearby city park, the animals built dams and restored wetlands that now absorb and slow floodwater naturally.

A great turnout from Queensbury Queens at the start of the George Herbert Stancer memorial ride, an annual e event where riders from all over Yorkshire ride to Pocklington to commemorate the former head of CTC @cyclinguk.bsky.social

That must be one of the best #parkrun finish line views there is! Today I discovered that I can run in the sling, but that running up a mountain after 5 weeks of no running is bloody hard work!

there's so much bad in the world but there's also people who lift up and carry an elderly bat around every day so he can pretend he's flying again, and that's the part of the world I think is worth fighting for

An unexpectedly pleasant day let me get out for the sort of ride that reminded me why I do it. Time to hang the bike up for a while now though.

Overall a decent year. A bit of disruption in the second half i won't go in to, but some good long rides, our most complete tour and more time on the cx bike than usual. Also most consistent running (albeit one parkrun a week) for about a decade. @veloviewer.com
