What an extraordinary thing.   Not just for Senator Booker but for New Jersey and the millions of Americans he spoke for today. This is an extraordinary moment that demands us to act and build a better future for our country.

Cory Booker has held the Senate floor for 17 hours and 21 minutes. The record of 24 hours and 18 minutes is held by segregationist Strom Thurmond, who spent that time protesting the Civil Rights Act of 1957. I am pretty sure Booker would not mind changing that history.

Always interesting to arrive at a hotel and see what Home Me thought I would be doing. Did I pack for an 18th C ball? Perhaps for finally doing the yoga I’ve been saying I will do for two years?

BREAKING: "At 1:15 PM tomorrow, President Trump will pick a country's name out of a MAGA hat and impose crippling tariffs on that country's goods for four minutes. This will happen daily until America is great again."

The state of the union? 60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. Half of Americans struggle to afford rent. Homelessness has risen by record numbers two years in a row. The #1 cause of bankruptcy is medical debt. Our taxes are funding a genocide.

The blackout doesn’t have to end today. Commit to spending your dollars locally so they stay out of the hands of mega corporations and billionaires. Follow our boycott guide and continue to support micro economies in your local town or city. #50501movement #PeoplesMovement #FiftyFiftyOne

My brain decided to be wide awake from 2-5am, during which time I indulged my inner theory nerd and read about the non-human turn. It was all very exciting and I had some brilliant insights for my dissertation that I scribbled on an envelope. I only understand half of it today. #PhD

Among the more inhumane things Trump/Musk have done this week, DOGE cut off food, water, & fuel to the US embassy in South Sudan. They are living on what power the generator can provide. The country has no potable water & there's a cholera outbreak in the country. These Americans are in real danger.

RFK Jr said measles patients are hospitalized for quarantine. This is false. They are hospitalized with: •respiratory distress •pneumonia •dangerously high fever •encephalitis •severe dehydration from vomiting & diarrhea These are from measles, a serious illness. Preventable via vaccination.

Meanwhile, they're banning drag shows, scrubbing pronouns from emails, criminalizing consensual adult content, and trying to erase trans people from public life, all in the name of "protecting women and children." This is what fascists do and what they have always done.

The embrace and protection of Andrew Tate at the highest level of US government tells you everything you need to know about this rotten administration. They worship at the altar of abusing women and girls. Their version of morality supports sex trafficking under the guise of camming

The level of depravity is off the charts. And millions of people support this. We are a broken country.

Between this and golden tickets for oligarchs, the admin sending a clear message that their immigration policy is not about keeping criminals out of the US, it’s about giving priority to their type of criminal (white, right wing). And once again as w their hiring, being a sexual predator’s a plus.

What the actual fuck

This is where we are now: An elementary school at Fort Campbell has removed all books from its library that so much as *allude* to slavery or the civil rights movement. The wholesale erasure of history in real time.

What’s going on right now is exactly why dystopian fiction is one of my personal Forbidden Genres. I’m living it, don’t need to further immerse myself in it. And don’t come at me with recommendations, my TBR is ten thousand miles long and I have read the “classic” dystopian stuff. #crankylibrarian

Most Americans are oblivious to the fact that the US helped "liberate" the Philippines from Spain in 1898 and then decided to keep it as a colony in one of the most racist & bloody conquests in US history. Just read the incredibly genocidal captions (see alt-text) in this popular book from the era.

. A Black spy saved George Washington’s life, helped win the Revolutionary War, and still had to buy his freedom. If America really loved Black history, James Armistead Lafayette would have his own blockbuster spy movie by now. Instead, we get another reboot of Batman. #BlackHISTORY

MAGA have created a complex emotional attachment to their causes. Many are isolated, entrenched in fear from their chosen media. Getting people out of their online communities and engaging in their local areas with actual people is a crucial step toward breaking these toxic ties.
