It's interesting, reflecting and contrasting Petra Parker against the TERF-wizard gender swap. One is clearly a vector to tell stories about trans struggles, lives, aspirations, and identities, while the other is "what if I could fuck this aryan schoolchild without it being gay?"

It's why Norman feels so real to me in this comic. He cares only for hurting Petra. Nothing he says has any real substance beyond that. He takes glee in it because that's all he has. Without the ability to hurt Petra or others like Petra, he is nothing.

That's why his final line has such punch, before he gets punched. Petra gets one over on him. She defies his understanding of her station, asserts her story in a classic Parker way, and forces him to accept that she matters. A feeling, of course, he can only meet with hate.

Chuds need someone to bully. That's definitional to who they are, they literally can't be themselves without hating the other. They *need* the other, in a way the other doesn't need them. There's not really any content fetishizing chuds. They are useless, consumers only, having nothing desirable.

That's part of the taint I feel clinging to said TERF-wizard trend. The desperation to be wanted, to be relevant. To have anything at all to say that resonates with anyone. To hurt anyone they can, the way they have been hurt.

This isn't to say Petra can't be sexual. Trans stories are sometimes sexual, just like any story! Just not exclusively so. The TERF-wizard, though, has no nuance, no stories, certainly nothing of the quality I reposted. She's just a child object of desire, devoid of identity or agency.

Because, in the mind of this particular subset of chuds, it's not that trans people can't exist. It's that trans people can't exist for *themselves.* For these chuds, everything needs to exist in service to them. Women, trans or cis, fit neatly into that category. You can exist, to serve me.

Props to MapQuest for a very good feature, but Seattle is fucking horrifying.

Completely besides the point that Newsom is shit, but damn these glasses are easily the least cool-looking thing I've ever seen.

No lie, I was going through some real rough stuff when this line found me. I didn't know what I was doing with my life, if anything I did had value, all the regular existential nonsense. This one line has been my guiding star. It's a big part of the reason I work in special education today.

That Cap speech going around again doesn't really sit well with me because you can swap Cap with Hatemonger and it'd still fit. It doesn't state a anything beyond "stick to your opinion, no matter the opposition". I much prefer Beta Ray Bill's "let us make good" speech.

I wish I could put into words how this cut away literal years of doubt and uncertainty. We're just people, with our capacity to do good. And it is up to us, and *only* us, to use it.

I'm against elder abuse on principle, though it is *pretty fucking ironic* that this man who spent his whole life lusting after soulless power will end his life trapped by it.

I had a friend who, at one point, accidentally stepped on and then fully fell into an underground bee hive. And couldn't get out. Anyway, this post has matching vibes.

The guy who opened fire at Comet Pizza because he'd cooked his brain online and believed they were a child sex trafficking hub was exactly as confident the people he was aiming at deserved it as Luigi Mangione, which is just one reason it's a bad idea to lionise vigilante murder.

As someone who liked Stephenson after Snow Crash, Diamond Age, and Seveneves, all I can say is: don't read Fall. Really took Stephenson from "guy very good at blending sci-fi and humor" to "oh he's been a pro-corporate knob gobbler this whole time, huh."

Yeah dude, everyone would be super happy to spend eternity in a cyber world run by the ghost of your CEO wunderkind. No downsides detected. That and the ridiculous transphobic take *trying* to be supportive of a trans character really killed me dead on his works.

In 2017, Criselda Vasquez painted this portrait of her parents and titled it "The New American Gothic." Last month, her father, the man in this portrait, was abducted by ICE after being in the US for 30+ years. The family is now struggling with bills. A GoFundMe has been started: gofund.me/456d8a193

No joke but I work in education and this is literally the reason I address every kid with Mr, Ms, or Mx. Everyone deserves that basic respect.
