I'm Lorenzo, I work for an environmental non-profit as a software engineer. I love learning about things other people nerd out about. Lots of interests, too many to list.

AT SFEI, our dogs go wherever we go.

I stumbled on an @sfestuaryinstitute.bsky.social “State of the Estuary” report from 1992 and this is easily my favorite graphic. Birbs here. More birbs over there.

There are widespread reports of ICE agents abducting people while masked, without warrants or identification. Due to recent events, we strongly advise: do not open your door or car for anyone you don’t know. That’s the message. No need to elaborate.

CBP Confirms It Is Flying Predator Drones Above Los Angeles To Support ICE 🔗 www.404media.co/cbp-confirms...

BREAKING: ICE is preparing to deploy tactical units to five cities run by Democratic leaders, according to two sources familiar with the planning of future ICE operations.

Los Angeles population is roughly 4M+ people. It’s a massive city, folks. The combined 4700 National Guard and Marines have been sent to about a 3-block area to aggressively eat lunch and watch peaceful protestors sing and dance. 👇🏽 💃🏽🎶🕺🏼 So now you know. Keep lifting the veil, LA fam!

Let this sink in. Even the Los Angeles Police Chief, Jim McDonnell, made it clear: the people protesting immigration raids were not the ones causing violence. During a Sunday evening press conference, McDonnell condemned the violence as “disgusting”

Still enraged they cut the NIH Bridges programs. 13 students in my lab came as CC students through Bridges. Students who had little/no support or guidance before. They could now be in lab instead of needing to make ends meet off-campus. Most are now in PhD progs (incl GRFP awardees) or applying. 1/2

Great segment that gave me a lot of chuckles this past weekend: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3Vz...

A group of prominent military contractors, including former Blackwater CEO Erik Prince, has pitched the Trump White House on a proposal to carry out mass deportations through a network of “processing camps” on military bases and a “small army” of private citizens empowered to make arrests.

lil psa for those who use chrome on their computer and have been driven crazy by the constant "sign in with google" prompts that pop up at various sites and didn't realize they could disable them and have been suffering in silence until now like i've been: here's how to get rid of them

If history is a guide, Spending Freeze 1.0, now dead, will be followed by Spending Freeze 2.0 and maybe Spending Freeze 3.0, each of which will be better written and lawyered than the one before.

🚨 BREAKING: OMB has just issued a memo *rescinding* the previous memo freezing all federal financial assistance programs. Full text, per government source:

NEW — OMB temporarily pauses all agency grants and loans programs. Per copy of memo: "The use of Federal resources to advance Marxist equity, transgenderism, and green new deal social engineering policies is a waste of taxpayer dollars that does not improve the day-to-day lives of those we serve."

It's probably going to be lost on a lot of people, especially those that hate LA, but emergency response teams have been phenomenal. Warning efforts for evacuation have been phenomenal and have saved a lot of lives.

Okay, Blueskyers, buckle in, because I'm going to post a thread of Walter Molino originals for the best series of celebrity portraits ever. Molino was a genius, and these originals have LIFE. Here's Marcelo Mastroianni with Sophia Loren, and then Ursula Andress, John Wayne, and the Beatles.

I've missed content like this...

“Don’t feed the trolls” also extends to bad opinion pieces in papers of record. They run them bc people react to them the most. If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change. It’s not easy and takes constant practice!

People are leaving Twitter because it’s not fun anymore and no one is obligated to be on a platform they don’t enjoy. It’s not rocket science.
