I'm not follower of trends. Fashion trends, music trends, hashtag trends; I tend to ignore these & do my own thing. An emerging trend that I'm 100% behind, however, is where folks who admire @glengrambo.bsky.social and his work repost one of his & wish him well as he recovers from a serious illness.

One of the amazing things about birds is how they seem to fly and manoeuvre in flight so effortlessly. But it’s hard work, and this little chipping sparrow shows us the fundamental key to flight … you may need to zoom in to see it, but it’s ALL in the way they hold their tongue! #Birds 🪶

Wonderful open house today with the wildly creative Jessica Salvador at the Tidal Arts Centre. The art was gorgeous and the home-baked cookies and chai were divine! It's been a pleasure getting to spend time with Jessica.

Chase, BC, has voted in a mayor who ran for the provincial Green party in 2024. This is a small rural community between Kamloops and Salmon Arm on the TCH. Usually conservative. Let's turn the province Green 💚 this Saturday!

This is my new happy place! So grateful to the Tidal Art Centre for providing a sunlit space where I can sing and dance and draw and write! There is even a resident kingfisher that wakes me up in the morning.

Another loss this fall. This time it's my dad's younger brother, Harlan. He was a brilliant teacher and a supportive uncle. The geese are calling your name over the golden fields. You are free.

I have very exciting news to share! Tomorrow I will be heading to Lund, BC for an artist residency at the Tidal Arts Centre! Looking forward to meeting a bunch of new folks and getting a shed load of work done!!!!

Deep-fried turkey leg, mac and cheese, stuffing and Brussels sprouts from Downlow Chicken. Decadent and comforting! #timeoutmarket

Jason Hodin’s lab at the University of Washington nurtures keystone species and reintroduces them to the Pacific Coast—a move that will strengthen kelp forests. Read the Brown Alumni Magazine story, written & photographed by Jennifer Adler ’11, who taught IBES' Science Journalism class last fall:

Looking like it's been dragged down a sooty chimney, the next Colias to feature in my clouded yellow summer is the dark and enigmatic Northern Clouded Yellow. To say these gave me the runaround in Arctic Norway would be an understatement! They fly faster than I can run... but eventually settled.

Hello October! It actually seems that the fall colours and leaf drop are late this year in the Yukon. I would have thought most leaves would normally be down by now...

Always grateful for a thirsty bumble bee gyne sighting this late in the year. May she overwinter successfully! #bees #yvrbees

September 30 is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day. Today is a time to raise awareness of the ongoing impacts of residential schools and remember the children who never came home. How are you honouring the day?

While Pronghorn are not thought of some of the great overland migrants - they actually are pretty impressive movers. Here at their northern edge, they are moving south in raggedy herds, 100s of kms in a quest to find great, snow free areas to winter. #mammals
