@peterclines.com I saw The End of Oak Street this week and it made me think of some parts of Gods Junk Drawer. I was wondering if you have seen the movie and if so what you thought of it.

I mean, I would, if I were them. The US is 100% not to be trusted any more, nor will we be again for a long time, if ever. Even when we get rid of the current feculent toad in what remains of the White House, the US fascist infrastructure will remain and could resurface, like a case of Nazi shingles
Denmark confirms an expanded, more permanent Danish and NATO military presence in and around Greenland, beginning today. Deployments span land, sea, and air, including protection of critical infrastructure, fighter jets, and naval operations. Sweden has committed forces; other NATO allies may follow
Cloaks should make a comeback. Yes jackets have a practicality to them but a good cloak can keep you and your back pack or other bags dry in a windy rain unlike many umbrellas. It is also just a cozy blanket if your are cold. I use mine when ever its cold enough around here.
This place needs some Innocuous Discourse pronto. Quote this with a take that’s not political or aggressive
A tradition for me now to watch this every new year. @wereherenews.bsky.social @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social youtu.be/jSrqC_angdc?...

There are SO MANY other ways to effectively fight the the fucking right than screaming into the social media void and making yourself feel as awful as these dickheads actually are. They want to exhaust you here so you feel helpless everywhere else. Fuck them. Conserve your joy, online and off.

Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel, Disney Animated or Pixar. (Couldn't find a gif too niche I guess)

September 13, 2026 will be the 20th anniversary, in point of fact. For a brief period of time, my cat Ghlaghghee (pronounced "fluffy") was the most famous cat on the Internet. She took it in stride. One of the great moments of the blog era. We should do something for the anniversary. Suggestions?
Just another example of how far they wil go. They are telling us they know their orders are illegal and they intend to have military personnel commit these acts.
"According to UCMJ Law Article 92 An order is unlawful if it violates the Constitution, U.S. laws, or military regulations and it directs a service member to commit a crime or unethical act." Nov. 20, 2025 As of the 11/23 "update," that clause is no longer there. www.ucmjlaw.com/disobey-a-su...
This is a practice Ive been doing for at least 15 years. Its for any one of any (or no) faith. The pause to reflect on the past year & prepare for the new is very useful. There is also something comforting knowing others around the globe are doing this too. www.owlsdaughter.com/welcome-to-o...
This is probably true. Because if I have the money and time to do this, most of my current problems would already have been solved.
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but a day spent reading Agatha Christie in a Scottish Highlands Cottage in front of a crackling fireplace whilst indulging in a plate of emotional support scones will indeed fix you. Anyone who tells you otherwise is not worthy of your friendship.

A Gatsby theme party on eve of 10% of Americans loosing their food access. If you wrote that in a script people would call it heavy handed.

Just to hammer this home- there are no societal problems for tech to solve. We already solved then. We know how to do clean energy. We know how to cut emissions. We have the resources to feed and house everyone. We've shown UBI and univ. healthcare work. We just need to care enough to DO all of it.
The greatest difference we could make to our future generations is not…any of the shit we hear people saying about tech. It is learning how to care for each other enough to create and hold a real, lasting peace.
