At least 79 kids have been harmed by tear gas or pepper spray during Trump’s immigration crackdown. In most cases, they were going about their days when officers shot chemical munitions near their homes and schools and into their cars. (Published May)

Next week, Utah will become the first state in the nation (to our knowledge) to target VPN use to avoid legally mandated age-verification gates. They won't create a safer internet, only a significantly less private one. www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...

During Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re reflecting on a student listening session in Selma earlier this year. This month is about naming what we’re carrying, making space for honest conversation, and pushing for real access to care. Care isn’t something we earn, it’s something we deserve.

Springsteen: Well, this past winter federal troops brought death and terror to the streets of Minneapolis. They picked the wrong city. Your strength and your commitment told us that this is still America. And this reactionary nightmare and these invasions of American cities will not stand.

really can't be said enough that this case was decided by the same court that decided plessy v. ferguson. if they could have found a plausible rationale to limit birthright citizenship they would have done it. but there is none! the text is as clear as constitutional language can be.

To whoever did this at the #NoKings in Boston: Thank you.❤️ It made me tear up. And we must to be reminded of needless damage to humanity that results directly from the careless, bellicose bluster coming from the Pentagon and White House.

A tax season reminder that Intuit TurboTax lobbied the government for years to block free public tax-filing. Trump then terminated the free IRS Direct File program established under Biden, just a year after the tax prep giant gave his inauguration fund $1M. Do you see how this works?

The President of the United States said I insulted Jesus. You want to know what insults Jesus? Kicking the sick off their healthcare. Bombing schoolchildren in Iran. Deporting moms and babies. Covering up the Epstein files.

CROCKETT: Professor, are you saying you believe it's constitutional for the US to blow up people that are accused of being drug traffickers? "It's not going to be a yes or no answer" CROCKETT: I'm going to stop you there. It's unconstitutional.

it’s incredibly blackpilling to me that it takes rising gas prices and rising gas prices alone to have people turn against the war in iran, and not the american government murdering thousands of children and civilians in iran. americans are incredibly selfish

About 70% of the U.S. economy runs on consumer spending. But as wealth concentrates at the top, the richest 10% can’t spend enough to sustain it — while everyone else can’t afford to. Reminder that trickle-down economics simply doesn’t make sense. It’s a hoax.

A reminder that incarcerated folks in Texas reported having to douse themselves with toilet water to cool off from sweltering heat – and the state still refuses to provide A/C.

Today I published my last story for The Texas Newsroom @KUTNews. We analyzed years of data from Texas prisons w/o AC and found — more often than not — temps would violate standards for county jails. Jails must keep temps between 65-85°. State prisons don’t. www.kut.org/crime-justic... #txlege

Thousands of people detained by ICE are actually held in local, publicly operated jails. These facilities–run by elected sheriffs–are making money off of the federal government's deportation agenda.

Replying to @prisonpolicy.org

Now is the time for states to double down on sanctuary policies. They can take a page out of Illinois' book, where the state AG has issued guidance thoroughly restricting ICE collaborations:

The disproportionate criminalization of Black people starts at a young age. While Black and white kids use drugs at similar rates, Black youth make up 24% of kids confined for drug offenses, despite comprising just 14% of the general youth population.

Apple and Google have immense power to shape what content is available on our smartphones. When they cave to government pressure to remove certain apps, politicians get to shape how we communicate. We should be in control of what happens on our own phones — not the government or corporations.

ICE is using a new app called Mobile Fortify to scan people's faces and determine their immigration status. The government's use of biased, unreliable facial recognition tech to supercharge its mass deportation campaign endangers all of our rights.
