Deep breath and remember your Kirby framing...these are white supremacists who want to justify ethnic cleansing.

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

Any of the wide images from the original William Joyce A Day with Wilbur Robinson. I carefully cut apart an old copy and got all the one-pagers, 4 are framed in my apartment, but I couldn't get the larger ones without a gap in the middle.

What's your aspirational print or animation cell? Mine would probably be Three Pines by Gustave Baumann.

Dress it up in progressive language but you're cheating yourself by not doing the work. This is the worst thing about AI: millions of students refusing to learn, taking zero interest in the world around them, empty in mind and heart. Your punishment is the person you will become.

IMO simulation based power analysis is the gold standard here -- not because it's better or more accurate (though often...), but because doing it requires knowing enough about the phenomenon you're studying to be able to plug in values that are even remotely reasonable in the first place!

Something I intensely dislike about LLMs is how they flatten all the work of making decisions about details, which is the whole game. Like Sondheim said, the art of making art is putting it together. I'm already too prone to thinking ideas are important, I don't want something that reinforces that.

Surprise email from my boss at night asking me to assemble info about my work for the last couple of years for the VP and to make it my highest priority. Well, it's been nice having a career, time to go cry...

The Bob's Burgers illustrators love accurate buildings and infrastructure, down to the framing, plumbing, wiring. The boiler has an expansion tank. The power poles have transformers wired up just like they should be. There's a gas meter in the alley. The under-sink plumbing is detailed and correct

I’m sorry to have to be the bad guy here but we need to recognize that we live in a compressed air thrusters world now. If you’re not finding ways to teach the critical use of compressed air thrusters in your classroom, you’re setting your students up to fail when you could be setting them up to fly

21/ TRUMP: I'll tell you two things. Number one, had they not taken the right turn onto dirt, instead of going up a concrete highway, it would have ended in one day. So I can imagine Putin's not exactly thrilled because you're getting into six years.

I love that randomness can, in of itself, be a form of computation.

Superoptimization tries to find the best possible machine-code for a given function by searching. A lot.

But what if you just…randomly changed the assembly of a program...

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

I finished my first #picocad2 animation. It took so long! So much in the details of animation. Clothing textures are difficult too, I think this passes cause of the size but I'm not thrilled with it up close. (Not a sanctioned advertisement, just fan art themed to my favorite arcade) #pinball

a really annoying thing happened like five years ago and ever since i’ve been trying to put it into a post-friendly number of words so i can gripe about it to you guys. but it can’t be done. but oh man it was so annoying though like you would be so on my side if i could figure out how to post abt it

I can't sleep so I'm thinking about Digger "it's not a satire, it's a farce" and there being no such thing as an anti war film. Maybe that wasn't a complaint about being lowbrow, maybe it was a criticism of how trying to make an appealing comedy like that softens the target, like Trump on SNL?

I didn't like Digger, but it wasn't as bad as some of the reviews had me expecting. Very pretty, the twist was neat, but it didn't work for me. I'm not sure why, and I will probably watch it again to try to understand.

I don't know why but I kept thinking about when I read the screenplay for Charlie Kaufman's unproduced musical Frank or Francis and I thought, I don't know if this would come together if they made it, but I would love to see the attempt. I wonder if this read better than it played.

If you missed today's @rinpharma.bsky.social workshop, here are a few of my favourite "quick fixes" for some common #ggplot2 issues 📊 1. Use {ggview} to preview plots at the same size and resolution as you want to save them with ggsave() to avoid the annoying resizing #RStats #DataViz

If I had any power at my company, I would make them bring in some board game designers to talk about writing rules. Quality system documents are such a mess and every time I read one I think about how they're just tedious, high stakes board games. I know it's tough, but it could be so much better!

My friend and I talked on Discord while we were making dresses this week and then followed up the next night cause it was such a good time. Highly recommended

All the repeat-idea devs are chasing down sorting inventory or finding a needle in a haystack, yet the big indie release this week is a femme-coded cozy game that's (shocking!) an original idea

"I thought Traffic was best experienced with one bad or drunk player at the table" I think that's true, but my favorite games of AIT 1e are like cycling sprints where everyone tries to do nothing and get their opponent to commit first, then it bursts into distinct positions and the race starts

Today's designer diary covers the early stages of An Infamous Traffic: Second Edition, the difficulty of understanding how designs really work, and how, at least for me, coming to really dislike something is often the first step in building something new. boardgamegeek.com/thread/37682...
