I can’t tell if You Can See Everything is a huge breakaway hit or if it’s specifically managed to dominate the niche demographic: everyone I’ve ever met.

This appalling.

In January, @standupforscience.net sent an on the ground investigator to Guinea Bissau to learn more about the study. Something that has not changed in GB or about the study: there is NOT A WORD for Hep B. They use the language for "yellow fever", that's not informed consent.

The CDC is excluding two deaths reported by Pennsylvania from its weekly updates of a national measles death tally. The highly unusual decision departs from the agency’s practice of including such data from state health departments.

Other folks on the project got this before I did, but I've come to see @unbreaking.org as less about broadcast—our careful work deliberately refuses to compete with immediacy—and more about the kind of thing @mattseybold.bsky.social points toward. We read and wrestle down realities together.

Excited to announce I started a podcast with my friend @trufelman.bsky.social, where we read classic philosophical works and discuss what they can teach us about why we buy, wear, and value the things we do. It’s basically a podcast for people who love clothes, books, and big ideas.

We need 2-3 more writers with a science-y backgrounds to help us turn news chaos into orderly information on @unbreaking.org's infectious disease control, food safety, and medical research funding pages. The commitment is a few hours every couple of weeks. Is this you? 🌱 unbreaking.org/how-to-help/

Replying to @anniewaldman.bsky.social

At this time, it's unclear how last year's changes might be impacting the current outbreak investigation. We @propublica.org want to hear from food safety experts as well as federal and state regulators about their work. You can reach me: annie.waldman@propublica.org, or Signal me (number in bio).

Great resources linked in Sarah's thread. I found this two-page "take action flyer" from @elizabethginexi.bsky.social especially helpful for pulling together comments — due today — quickly: drive.google.com/file/d/1ppq4...

Did you write your comment yet on the OMB rules on federally funded science yet? No? Don’t worry, you can do it this weekend. Here are some resources that can help you get started.

Shrey spelling 32 words in 90 seconds to win the Spelling Bee is the new greatest athletic accomplishment of 2026. I don’t even know how he said the letters that fast. Got a “Holy Mackerel” out of @minakimes.bsky.social

A direct letter from @drtedros.who.int to the people of Tenerife, Canary Islands in light of the MV Hondius’ arrival. This is thoughtful and compassionate, and correctly describes the legal framework, but more importantly the solidarity that underpins it.
