I’m a sucker for this kind of storytelling and Jeremy is exceptional with it. It’s just pure distilled *curiosity* about the world just outside our doorstep. I believe, once all is said and done, that curiosity is probably all life is about.
A million North Carolinians have voted in this year’s election. One of them—just one!—cast a ballot from Antarctica. I found him. And I found out how he did it. www.ncrabbithole.com/p/one-person...
Once again @ncrabbithole.com asking the crucial questions 🙌 What an excellent use of elections data (CC @emilyriederer.bsky.social )

🎙️ @rdpeng.org has "no advice" except this low-key very profound wisdom about innovation
Totally true and *also* big reason we have good science? Statistics. Grateful for all the statisticians out there catching this stuff & helping correct the record!
The biggest reason we have bad science? Statistics. They're technical, and finding errors requires having expertise and access to data. Then you have to do a lot of work. This study is 30 years old, finds that resistance training is good for depression, and is wrong.

Ugh this is so catchy and also…made with AI 🤣😭 Who is still making bespoke parodies and how can I give them all my money?
A coworker shared this to our chat yesterday & no joke, it's been stuck in my head since Still not sure how I feel about it as I cycle between laughter & tears anyway, lgtm 💃🏼 youtu.be/3TNpOD6bov8

This was so fun to to! And finally puts to rest the long lasting issue that has fractured society for so long - do different colored marshmallows actually taste different??

The polite term "flawed" is part of the problem. Flawless trials are pretty rare (everything in clinical trials is simple but the simplest thing is difficult) This study wasn't just flawed, it was seriously misleading and implausible
Scientists have repeatedly warned that flawed studies are affecting the results of systematic reviews in medicine and other fields, but it’s rare to find such a clear example, says @floriannaudet.bsky.social . Read more here: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
