There are games that are hype moments & aura (derogatory) and games that are hype moments & aura (positive), Copy Kitty is definitely the latter

People talk about Bluesky users "being in a bubble" like it's a bad thing but the more I think about it the more I kinda like it? A protective bubble I could deploy for me and my friends sounds great. I wouldn't want to be in it all the time though, maybe if it had a 10 second cooldown and 650 HP?

i'm going to be honest, i don't think all those posts where things start out being about one subject and end up being about Winston from Overwatch are that funny. I think they would be better if they were about a young witch trying to solve the disappearance of her neighbour's cat in a small villag

do you think somewhere out there there's a guy who plugged their PS5 controller into their PC and said "oh thank god, my video game controller took control of my audio settings"

It's a positive promotion and it displays a fascinating lack of imagination. What? You couldn't come up with a blonde tsurunde in a school uniform all by yourself? You're about as creatively bankrupt as Rowling is.

Not to beat a dead horse but i think people who say the Malfoy trend doesnt give JKR money so who cares need to consider Gacha companies comm artists all the time and theres no link to the game or anything the art itself is a positive promotion

I was initially concerned that AI garbage may at one point end up being too well hidden in games, but thankfully since they're all "idea guys", it's extremely easy to filter out the garbage, it's not exactly hard to tell at all

The biggest issue ended up being just sweeping the garbage away rather than whether or not i could identify it, i genuinely have to wonder if these assholes are even making any profit out of this considering how expensive tokens for gen AI chatbots are getting

Sadly you're gonna have to clean up the garbage no matter what, itchio is getting filled with just as much garbage while very few indies even get a chance to release on GOG in the first place. If you want to avoid the hassle, share some game recommendations between friends, you may find something.

The more i look at breath of the wild, the more i despise it, not because of the game itself, but because of how many of its design decisions have been creeping into other nintendo franchises like a parasite infecting and slowly causing games to rot into something unrecognizeable

Probably a massive hyperbole on my end, but it's hard to look at things like New Horizons' shoehorned durability system, MP4's sol valley, Echoes of Wisdom's...everything and of course the threehousification of Fire Emblem and not see that the killer behind all of these cases is already in the house

No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

Skyward Sword randomizer makes one change to the base game that significantly enhances the experience: You no longer have to deal with NPCs telling you how to tie your shoes every god-damned minute

It's honestly quite perplexing that the 3d zelda game with the most difficult combat in the series is the same one that doesn't trust you to do fucking anything on your own

Any “leftwing” party willing to go into government with a neo-Nazi party, for ANY reason, should be seen as another neo-Nazi party

Honestly one of the worst parts about calamity imploding is that it sorta killed my motivation to collect plushies considering that 2 out of the 5!I've got so far are cal plushies, which are sadly just kinda stinking the collection now.

To this day I'll never understand what they were thinking with Aqua and Ventus' dodges in BBS. I've never seen any other action game give you what is essentially on-demand invincibility

A dodge that gives you enough Iframes to chain it into another dodge with no gaps is the kind of shit you'd see in a low budget kusoge, old osaka team was truly something man

Adding leaf bracer to a game where cure is even more spammeable than in KH1 was also quite a hilarious mistake. They literally had to make the superbosses break the rules of the game (remnant's cure copying and mysterious figure's tornado+doom) just to prevent cure spam.

You can’t even comprehend how important Eien ni Hen’s work is to the fan translation community. Romancing SaGa, Fire Emblem, Sakura Wars, Tear Ring Saga, Glory of Heracles, Dragon Force II, Dark Half, Beyond Oasis, Psi-O-Blade, Arabian Nights, and so much more. What a loss. Rest in peace.

In memory of the translator, Eien ni Hen. May she rest in peace.

Ngl i never understood the whole "Oh small % increases in games are bad game design because they barely make a difference", like, terraria is one of the most popular games of all time and it does exactly that, and not only does it do it, it freaking nails it.

Menacing and Warding reforges are only 4% or 4 flat respectively, yet difference in power between pre-goblin tinkerer and post-goblin tinkerer is really notorious. There's clearly a right way of designing small power increases, it would be insincere to pretend it has never been done right before.

Hell, another good example would be the 3ds and switch FE games, where skills that simply give small flat stat boosts are easily the best in the game just by virtue of how many thresholds it helps you reach. "More impactful" skills like a guaranteed Luna would simply break the game.

recently I came to a realization about why "smart devices" are so shitty if you take an appliance that creates some sort of physical output, and connect it to a network, what you've actually done is invent a new kind of printer and printers are, of course, the devil's machines

Hot take maybe kinda not really, but people tend to overvalue the importance of ludo narrative synergy in videogames. It's quite nice when it's there, but it does not create a masterpiece by its own and it never will

KH 358/2 days has more artist merit than pretty much every other game in the series imo, but good luck finding a single person willing to play through it more than once.

I've been preaching about it for a long time, but imo the best kinds of videogames are those that make people want to revisit them over and over again. Soul can have an impact on that, i love Majora's Mask after all, but there's a reason the most revisited ones are also the most fun to play

Soul can help a game stand out, and it can be what turns a good game into a masterpiece. But a soul can't do anything on its own, not without a solid body to hold it. Ultimately, time decided that super metroid was the one to endure, even if it's more "videogamey" than Metroid II

I could mention countless examples really. Genealogy of the Holy War is a more interesting game than Thracia at a glance, but there's a reason whenever people revisit the kaga era games, thracia is the one they gravitate towards, it's just the better game here.

There's a reason as to why games with very strong ludonarratives such as metroid II are barely explored nowadays while Mario 64, a game that drops you on the most cheap videogame-looking videogame levels ever is still played and adored by many after so many years
