@femlfm.bsky.social hi Lisa 👋 I know it's been ages. I can't believe it's taken this long to get back to some some semblance of normal functionality, including two more spells in hospital. Please brace yourself for a resumption of diplomatic relations.i want my lovely friend back!

Again, please share. In every aspect of American history you will run smack dab into the critical contributions of Black people. It’s not Black history. It’s American history. Trying to erase it is a fool’s errand. We live it every day. time.com/5836444/blac...

Brexit ‘no mates’ Britain still sitting in a sulk outside the room because yet another prime minister doesn’t have the courage to say how geopolitically insane and economically illiterate this is. Or admit the lies they’ve all told about immigration and freedom of movement. What failure.

Nobody seems to get this. It's from the 1970s Andre Previn: You're playing all the wrong notes! Eric( hoisting Previn up by the lapels): No. I am playing all the right notes. But not necessarily in the right order!

Albert King's Born Under A Bad Sign has the refrain " If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have no luck at all". Looking at the papers lately, does anyone else feel like replacing "luck" with "news" throughout? 🤔🙄

I got savaged by a puppy today on the way home from the shops. It was a tiny black smudge on the end of a 30ft extendable lead. After a brief hump of my shin it ran around me until my legs were tied together with its lead. It's owner had to run around me in the opposite direction to free me! 🥰

When it comes to a choice between cock-up and conspiracy, most MPs naturally gravitate to conspiracy. So much more exciting. Life’s too dull when it’s just some unelected apparatchik doing a job badly. -John Crace on the China Spies imbroglio

Using up the odds and ends of the chocolate stash in the house before I buy more. There is a box of After Eights that must date from Christmas. Did you know that a serving, according to the box, is two? Did anyone, ever?

Tesco takes more from you than it costs for Asylum Seekers, and the Banks take more in 2 weeks than Asylum Seekers cost in an entire year. But of course, there is absolute silence about that.

I really don't think attacks onA&E staff are funny. But I couldn't help smiling at this juxtaposition of headline and picture. I mean, fancy that pelican following her all the way to the park to vent its spleen!

Sad news. Why does the BBC struggle so much to put on a decent book show?

Tim Worthington@outonbluesix.bsky.social

Sad to hear that BBC2 have cancelled Between The Covers, one of the few attempts at a book review show where I felt you got honest recommendations from guests and that - even more surprisingly - other guests were free to disagree with them. They never did The Larks Ascending, though.
