I must not discourse. Discourse is the mind-killer. Discourse is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face the discourse. I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

Confiscating the passport of the elected representative of the opposition territory in a raid with a flimsy pretext to attempt to strip them of citizenship is something we have words for when it happens in other countries

this is one of the best episodes of book club and if you only occasionally listen, go listen

I wrote about Baltimore's co-op infrastructure a couple of weeks ago... here's a much more in-depth look at what is quietly one of the most revolutionary things happening in the US.

John Duda@johnduda.bsky.social

And I got to tell the story of the Baltimore worker co-op ecosystem that has grown from a couple of scrappy DIY projects like @redemmas.org into something that has deployed tens of millions of dollars in non-extractive investment seedcommons.org/projects/an-...

If you saw me on tour for The Sapling Cage, this has the stories that I read to you. It's five folktales from the fantasy world of that novel, but you don't have to know anything about the novel to enjoy it.

like I'm reasonably certain that if someone handwrote notes and put them in my mailbox that said "we're going to stop the tranny menace" or whatever that would be a crime. I don't see why having them printed on glossy cardstock makes it okay.

since i have been on Behind the Bastards I have decided that if it wins, that means I have a golden globe too. mostly i just want joe rogan to lose though.

Behind the Bastards is apparently eligible for a Golden Globe this year I can't imagine we'll win, given the number of podcasts by famous Hollywood people on the list. But it's nice to be considered eligible! goldenglobes.com/articles/bes...

Berger, the historian, said that what makes the project exciting is that it centers on being a defendant. “But it’s also a tragic commentary on where we’re at, with a large swath of people and politics under attack right now,” he said. “We’re all defendants.” www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

Really enjoyed @margaret.bsky.social latest episode about autistici/ inventati. she's just a few years older than I am and really helps me connect the early 00s movements with where we are today. For context I was 16 on 9/11 and have been yelling the GWB was fascist since I was 15.

you can hear me talking about the matrix

🚨 All eyes on the border wall blockade at Camp O:ṣhad in Lochiel, Ariz. This morning, over 50 Border Patrol / BORTAC agents raided the resistance camp, entering private property without a warrant, attacking land defenders & deploying a cherry-picker to extract the tree sitter.

Border patrol agents have entered private property in Lochiel Az, without showing a warrant I’m told, to remove people who have been camping there. They’re also setting up an exclusion zone around the tree that’s being defended.

Women couldn't be outlawed in 13th-century England because they were never put in law. Instead, women accused of crimes were ordered to be waived if they failed to appear at trial. The consequence of waivery was the same as outlawry's: execution (often immediately and without trial). 🧵1/4

Reading, and writing, are holy. I love reading novels because they tell me something. They say: "this is what someone believed enough to dedicate months or years of their life to say." This is just as true for the trashiest pulp as it is for the highest literature.

The fastest I ever write is about 2000 words an hour (realistically, it's a little over 1000 words an hour). If I wrote 2k words an hour, 10 hour days, I suppose it's technically possible to write 60,000 words in three days, but I don't think I could without a gun to my head.

But i'm 100% sure whatever garbage I threw out in those 3 days would be more interesting than an AI novel, and it would still, on some level, be human expression.

Michael Moorcock once wrote a book called something like How to Write a Novel in Three Days and it haunts me. The fastest I ever wrote a novel was 3 weeks, ghostwriting trashy hetero romance. And it destroyed my brain to do. I just had a tight deadline.
