President Donald Trump used an antisemitic term during a rally in Kansas as he came to the defense of Republican Senator Roger Marshall, who faces a surprisingly competitive race in a deeply red state.

Powerful op-ed by Senator @kim.senate.gov: "Delaney Hall is working exactly how it is intended to — as a purgatory to indefinitely hold detainees in poor and often dangerous conditions, with no progress in court, until their spirits break and they agree to self-deport."

ms.nowOpinion | The abhorrent conditions inside Delaney Hall are only part of the storyWe are witnessing blatant disregard for human welfare, seemingly all to enrich Donald Trump’s corporate allies and sustain an inhumane agenda.

4 days ago The Pentagon fired the editor in chief of Stars and Stripes. Yesterday they broke the story of Elsie Dominguez, a civilian engineer who was raped repeatedly by the Captain of a Navy ship she was on. They keep trying to silence the press & quash the truth. Elsie’s story must be told:

"Bluesky is dying" bro you're talking about a website full of 38 year olds who have fringe political beliefs and listen to black metal bands with >1000 listeners on spotify, nobody here cares about popularity

Yup. The Obama administration had a whole pandemic plan in place, even ran table-top simulations with Trump’s incoming team. Trump scrapped it all because it happened under a Black president—then Covid hit. They are doing the same thing with Biden-Harris recovery and pandemic preparedness policies.

Arguably, earlier forms of red-baiting have left a lasting imprint on the field of communication.

A new essay in Journalism History on the role of redbaiting and ideological steering in the early field of communication. Used to "discipline the discipline," it left a lasting imprint on media research and is especially timely to reflect on today. Link to the PDF: victorpickard.com/wp-content/u...

I should be clear that the architecture of Bluesky makes it the social media place I most like to be. I'm not on social media to be an influencer or instigator; I want to hang out with folks and have an enjoyable time. This place delivers on that. I hope it continues to do so for a long time.

Kamala Harris: We have a president taking America into a war the people did not ask for, spending billions of dollars without paying attention to the people right here in America who are losing their health coverage because of policies they are pushing to pay for a tax cut for the rich…

Democratic voters prefer politicians who are ready, willing and able to fight. Where incumbents fail that test, voters will look to replace them with politicians who will actually fight. That's it. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

Three years ago tomorrow, I very nervously gave this speech. I knew my career as a TV journalist was dunzo, cooked, filleted, kaput the morning I wrote it. (Thanks to Kat insisting I go for it anyway.) The end is awfully prescient at this exact second, though. Big ups to Scott Pelley for fighting.

It’s not just that we will miss one of the most consistently funny, astutely perceptive and topically necessary shows on television, it’s that we will miss getting to spend a little time each night with one of the most genuine, authentic hosts ever to do it.

Five hours later, this staggering, perverted act of gargantuan corruption is not even one of the top 10 news stories on the NYT homepage. NYT has normalized Trump’s degeneracy.

This is the greatest single act of corruption in the United States ever? Worth mentioning in news reports. Calling it "unusual" is .. not sufficient. www.nytimes.com/2026/05/18/u...
