After the previous week a lot of people are tired from patching, and I think this describes it quite well: "3% of critical software security bugs, in all of recorded history, have been found in the last month" 🤯 Full stats: cve.0xosprey.com What a time to be alive 🫠 #security

A high performer at Microsoft (200/200 means they got 200% of target bonus and stock compensation) was advised by their manager to take the voluntary retirement program. Assuming the previous 30% acceptance rate, Microsoft needs 18,000 people to leave the company. There will be layoffs otherwise.

Couldn't put it better than the top #AWS shitposter himself - @quinnypig.com: "Why... why do I need to reserve capacity for on-demand databases? Oh, right, because the cloud is full." 🙃 Well, better start reserving before they run out 😜 aws.amazon.com/about-aws/wh...

I think Uber offloading extra charges like tolls and surcharge fees feels a bit scamy. What's next, they're going to charge customers for fuel as well 🙃. I only hope some of that is going to the drivers at least🤞 #MondayRant

Lovely, I'm sure #AI will generate a solution along the way, right? 🫠

Tech Won’t Save Us@techwontsave.us

The tech industry’s data center boom has generated an unprecedented backlash — and is threatening any prospect of climate progress in the process. This week @lifewinning.com takes over the show to interview @parismarx.com about his new book HYPERSCALE. Full ep: techwontsave.us/episode/351_...

Mind the average attention span lowering: "The longer your message, the less likely it is to be read by someone who can act on it."

Security by obscurity days are long gone 😉

“If every piece of software is a door, AI makes it exceptionally easy to turn turn the knobs of every door to see if it’s unlocked ... Not only are some of the locks easy to pick, in some cases the door is wide open or there’s a giant hole in the wall.”

After the crew worked tirelessly last night, we talked about to kick off #AWS Community Days Adria with @darko.rup12.net. I'll be speaking later about running workloads on #EKS . Of you're here, come and say hi!

What an exciting time to be alive 🤪

If you run any kind of PHP application on your server... it's time to patch. Except... the patch is not here yet. Some info here: jackalsyn.com/posts/php-up... - but disabling upload progress *may* help, it's just not the full fix: session.upload_progress.enabled = Off

BTW knowledge of the existence of this vulnerability enables a well financed malware group to use AI to find it, if you run PHP anything you should be taking the service down NOW until a patch is available. And then patch before bringing the service back up.

nightshade →home, for now@nightshade.technology

details leaked. this vulnerability is a full unauthenticated unconditional remote code execution exploit against any service running on a PHP version from 5.4 until latest yeah if anything deserves CVSS 11, this is it. this is CATACLYSMICALLY bad.

It's Day 2 at @kcduk.bsky.social and we started with great keynotes. On top of scaling @rawkode.dev API also conforms with upstream and passing the tests🚀 #KCDUK #Kubernetes

Amazon launched a $75 AI wristband that listens to your conversations and remembers what you said. It can also recommend products on Amazon based on things you mention. Apple’s new watches will have similar conversation memory features. AI remembering everything we say is now a consumer feature.

It's all about your tools and how efficient they make you (#AI is not answer to everything). Make you to sharpen your axe before start chopping wood 😉

Gergely Orosz@gergely.pragmaticengineer.com

From a dev at a startup, talking about AI usage: "At my last startup, there was one dev. He used vim and could ship features to production faster than anyone else who was using AI. He did it at a higher quality, and this is what he continues to do. The best dev I ever met."

Still mad amount of money 🤑

💯 and also proves it's not the most efficient way of doing certain tasks 😜
