I am certainly not shocked that Republicans are sympathetic with a thuggish hostage-taker.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Q: Witkoff called Putin 'a humanitarian' for agreeing to release Stephen Hubbard. Do you agree with that? JD VANCE: I agree with Steve Witkoff saying something nice to a person who just released an American hostage.

JD Vance is so weird that I thought “endorsed one foreign candidate” was a comment about his wife Usha. And now I’m wondering if Usha doesn’t have JD’s endorsement.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

LOL -- JD Vance says "I've endorsed one foreign candidate in my entire life, and it didn't go particularly well, as much as I'm very much an admirer of Orban"

From the position where it seemed like he wanted to father every child in America, this seems like progress. Most parents aren’t so horrible to their kids that they give them and their friends stock in their companies, but to each Elon’s own.

CNN@cnn.com

Elon Musk has said he will give every child in America a stake in SpaceX, his $2 trillion aerospace and artificial intelligence company, as tech firms face intensifying scrutiny over their impact on society. https://cnn.it/4yWTjTJ

Is it irony that the person most strongly pushing the term “super intelligence” to replace AI is one of the least, if not the least, intelligent person ever to hold his position? #superunintelligence

Rep. Andy Harris (R-Obviously) is an embarrassment. You have no expectation of privacy in a public setting. You may have an expectation of privacy in a call/meeting between two people, but even then there are restrictions.

When you anoint a con man as your standard-bearer, no one should be surprised that this happens. It’s a feature, not a bug. It does help understand the GOP push to render the Department of Education completely ineffective in its mission. It’s infinitely harder to fool people who think.

Woah! "Through the end of June 2026, Trump meme coin investors have lost $3.81 billion." Poor folks fell for the grifter's scams. Via @snipy.bsky.social in @atrupar.com's PN:

Pardons imply crimes were committed. You can’t pardon someone without naming the crime, and accepting a pardon is an admission of guilt for those crimes.

I hope everyone involved in Christa Pike’s botched execution receives justice if not the exact same treatment. I don’t excuse Pike for her crimes, but everyone deserves dignity and peace in death. Pike received neither.

If I lived in a city without a prominent Trump property, I’d be a little worried right about now. Because clearly he’s intending those nukes to hit you, not anything he actually cares about.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

asked about gas prices, Trump says "if you want to see turmoil and a travesty, let them take out a city with a nuclear weapon ... let them hit us with a nuclear weapon"

It’s going to be really funny when we find out that Stuxnet was lurking in the corpus for all of these foundation models, and it was just a matter of time before it surfaced.

Haha, I can’t wait to see this backfire spectacularly. Obvious retorts from her opponents: “So you’re saying we should listen to Democrats on these issues?” “Convenient. Are you trying to save our country or just your job?” “Certainly a circuitous route to admitting there is a racism problem.”

Florida Republican tries to save her seat by ... running ads against Trump

Why is it that there is so much money to be made in industries that everyone knows are killing us but very little money to be made in ones that save us? I worry that too much of work in human salvation is being left to religions of the world, and they are too focused on our souls, not our lives.

False. Republicans just have to outlive him. And that gets easier every day, since he’s exhausting the efficacy of all of the medical miracles currently keeping him alive. He’s almost at the point where they need to turn to witchcraft or alchemy to forestall his passing.

The New Republic@newrepublic.com

As new reporting shows how Trump advisers shield him from bad midterm news, a shrewd decoder of MAGA crazy explains why he will never, ever allow Republicans to get distance from him. trib.al/8II3BPc

So, the Grim Reaper seems to be working his way through octogenarians who were big in the 1980’s. It’s only a matter of time before he gets to those that were only “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” big.

Well, the Alaska Senate race certainly going to be talked about in context of stolen elections, because Senator Dan Sullivan is afraid enough Alaskans would feel he isn’t the better Dan Sullivan on the ballot, and the GOP cried until the Alaska elections officials kowtowed to their wishes.

I don’t feel like doing the research to get the math right, but this has be close to 2-3 books donated per American born in the past 31 years. Imagine where American literacy would be without Dolly Parton’s generosity. We never deserved her kindness, yet she gave it anyway.

Kyle Griffin@kylegriffin1.bsky.social

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library gifted more than 332,000,000 books since it was first created 31 years ago.

To honor the passing of a true American hero, Dolly Parton, I highly encourage you to rewatch 9 to 5 and consider what you can do to address harassment, bias, and inequity in your workplace.

The “O” in GOP may as well stand for “OnlyFans”. - They’re great at making you excited. - They make you feel like they care so you come back with money. - But in the end, they only care that you are subscribed and consuming what they put out, regardless how harmful it is or can be.

If Wal-mart got a $2.9 billion refund for Trump’s tariffs, then the American consumer probably paid far more than $2.9 billion at Wal-mart due to Trump’s tariffs because of snowballing effects. And that is just Wal-mart. Every item purchased everywhere could have cost more due to Trump.

A criminal running for President to avoid prosecution for his many crimes will say some untruthful things during the campaign. The American people should not have to foot the bill for the administration of his delusions.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

WELKER: The DOJ has lost 22 cases trying to force states to turn over their voter rolls. Is it time for the DOJ to drop this fight? BLANCHE: No, we're not going to stop. Election integrity is something that President Trump ran on, and the American people elected him.

It’s going to be a shitty Christmas if/when the GOP lose their asses in the election, decide to punish the nation, and refuse to do another CR beyond that point. Because we all know they will.

Senate votes 90-6 to pass a short-term bill to keep government open until Dec 11. The House still needs to pass it. It would prevent a shutdown before the midterms, which both parties want to avoid in this anti-incumbency moment. www.nbcnews.com/politics/con...

Seems like his Kentucky home is within the legal jurisdiction of the KY Governor. There has to be a way for Beshear to force acceptable proof-of-life once on KY soil.

Breaking news: Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) said he was discharged from a rehabilitation center and would continue his recovery at home from a fall that has kept him from the Senate for nearly two months.

Ah, man. Trump already dismantled the WH UFC arena. I would totally watch JD and Tucker kick the crap out of one another, but especially on the grounds of the White House.

The Daily Beast@thedailybeast.bsky.social

Laura Loomer has advised JD Vance that he needs to “destroy” Tucker Carlson if he wants to make his presidential dreams a reality.

I’ve read news articles about how American state property tax systems are crushing seniors with tax burdens for homes they own which outgrew their family 20 years ago, forcing some to sell them and downsize. So, Boomers are selling homes they cannot maintain to families that need them? Great.

Jesus, the only person at Lindsay’s service who isn’t completely full of shit is Donald Trump, and that’s only because he’s incontinent.

Hannity: "My President, Lindsey probably has a heavenly version of Mar-a-Lago. It may even be a little bigger. I wouldn't be surprised if he added one big beautiful ballroom and an arch somewhere on the property. Because he would want to obviously duplicate his dearest friend in life. You."

I’ve decided that I’m going to replace the word “conservative” with “intellectually lazy”. Every idea a conservative has I can almost guarantee is the most lizard-brained way to solve a problem in their favor. If an issue requires work to solve, they blame, cheat, lie, or grift their way out.

Not sure about you, but I’m pretty a corpse isn’t doing a lot of planning. Even zombie movies make it pretty clear that there isn’t a whole lot of thought going on while terrorizing people. I am confident Mitch will make his return to the Capitol building someday. Well, to the rotunda, at least.

In this country, we believe in freedom of speech. We settle our differences not with bullets, but with open and vigorous debate. And no deranged loser with a gun will ever change that. - Donald J Trump, at the 2026 WHCA Donald, they’re your deranged losers. Maybe you should convince them of that.

Get on with it, Donald. We both know how this is going to play out. No one but you benefits from prolonging the inevitable.

Trump lethargically lumbering his way through what the teleprompter is telling him to say, trying to warn the audience that at the first event he had a really powerful strong speech that would've destroyed them. He sounds like he's been hit with a tranq dart.

Don’t threaten me with a good time.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "The Democrats are gonna terminate the filibuster as soon as they have a chance and then they're gonna approve DC and Puerto Rico as states. They get 4 more senators, 12 more congressmen, like 40 electoral votes ... you don't want to see me cry."

All of these Republicans gerrymanders are predicated on them holding solid enough leads in their districts that they could dilute them somewhat to no ill effect to win newly designed districts. If these margins are real, the GOP could lose what were once safe seats.

A new Fox News poll has Dems up 53/46 on the generic ballot. Says Fox: “Notably, 53% is the highest percentage either party has received on the generic House ballot in Fox News polling since 1996.” www.foxnews.com/politics/fox...

If I felt as POTUS that I needed to fortify the White House to ensure my safety, I would have to wonder if maybe I was the problem. Frankly, if I wasn’t already worried about Trump leaving the WH at the end of his term, I certainly am now.

I can speak to a stack of pancakes and have just as much of a conversation as anyone speaking to Mitch McConnell. Also, room temperature pancakes are still pancakes.
