It's nothing new, but can't be said often enough: this industry is fucked. Why would I ever want to go into game development?

Lula winning is great for the planet, great for Brazil, and great for people who aren't revanchist assholes everywhere in the world, but let's not forget that it's also going to make some of the worst people on Earth extremely sad and mad. We should enjoy that, as a little treat.

But man, what an annoying game. Maybe I shouldn't have started it on hard mode where everything is more hidden, but the fact that you need to collect every single gem piece to get through the game is dumb. Just played through a level 3 times without finding it.

THEN I looked up this video to find the thing, turned out I ran through the level again because I didn't know that the locations are different on hard and after finding another guide on hard I finally got it. Just feels way too convoluted for beating a game for it's normal ending, fuck that.

Really enjoying FF Resonance but rn it feels better for me to chip away at it than playing it extensively for multiple hours. The chapter structure kinda supports that for me too. Just reached the fourth chapter and I really like gradually making my visions stronger. Always feels rewarding.

Ah yeah, the Battlefield IP. It's a very special one about ... *checks notes* soldiers on a battlefield shooting each other.

Sony Pictures is the frontrunner to acquire the live-action ‘BATTLEFIELD’ movie. • Michael B. Jordan will produce & potentially star in the film • Christopher McQuarrie is set to direct (Source: www.thewrap.com/creative-con...)

Also did the thing. Honestly really hard to pick just 9 when there's so many genres and eras. Tried to confine it to games that got me into specific genres and somewhat changed my viewpoint on gaming, but there's plenty more.

Why does it always have to be the Skywalkers? They really go out of their way to make their entire universe feel incredibly small. Imagine doing 12 movies about one family when your setting is space.

More people need this realization. Time limits can solve so many problems modern games have. They add meaning to choices, they add replay value and you can prevent getting to powerful by engaging with the side content. Even makes the urgency of the main story more believable.

The Blood of Dawnwalker scared me during its intense prologue. Not because of the bloodsucking antics of vampire Brencis and his buddies, but because it introduces time slots as a resource. Strangely enough, what I feared most at first is exactly what I ended up wanting more of 👇

This is how I learned that DQ4 has a PS1 version, lol. Luckily it's not one of the games with asterisks, I guess? 😅

These games now have English translations! ▫️ Code Geass: Lost Colors (PS2/PSP)* ▫️ Dragon Quest Monsters 1+2 (PS1)* ▫️ Sakura Wars 4 (Dreamcast)* ▫️ Kinnikuman Muscle Grand Prix 2 (PS2) ▫️ Dragon Quest IV (PS1) ▫️ Lucky Star: Ryouou Gakuen Outousai Portable (PSP) * AI used

As long as cool games as this one exist in the indie market, I'm fine with AAA companies fucking themselves🚬

Honestly really cool I can be excited about Square games again. The FF Resonance demo was really good, KH4 will be a fun time (hopefully I don't have to wait for a DLC for it to be *great* though) and FF7 Revelation will be a blast. Hopefully DQ12 will be great as well.

I honestly don't mind. The Remakes are adapting the story of the main game and add some new stuff to it, but there's still a lot of stuff left to uncover. I'll gladly get to a point where the Dirge of Cerberus ending gets picked up after all these years. Just hope mainline gets good again as well.

007: First Light, but I only played a handful of new games. I expect Trails to push it off it's throne. Genuinely really cool game though, just not quite GotY material.

What's your current GOTY?

These are still going??? I only watched the first one, so how are they explaining that they return to that damn dino infested place multiple times?

I never actually played the original NES version of FF before and ... I sure don't recommend that one! Honestly, from a historical standpoint this is a pretty great game. Liked it more than the first DQ for sure. But it has lots of stuff that makes it a bit frustrating to go back to.

So without turbo mode I probably wouldn't have beaten it. But it still has lots of good ingredients already there. Choosing your party from the start gives it good replay value, the music is great, there's a decent amount of gear and spells (some don't work, lol) and decent length.

For example your party members don't automatically target another monster if the previous one is already dead. So a lucky crit often just means that the other turns are pointless. You can also only buy 1 item at a time which quickly becomes annoying when you need 99 potions.

Healing also becomes frustrating that way since you always have to navigate to the potion first and then heal one potion at a time. You also can't resurrect anyone for the longest time and only save via tent or inn. I don't hate all of that, but added together it just leads to a grindfest.
