A proposed rule fueled by Trump’s conspiracy theories would require the USPS to keep a list of voters it believes should be allowed to vote by mail—and give them the power to hold those ballots hostage. Urge them to say NO and help protect voting by mail: act.standupamerica.com/letters/cte-...

This is absolutely magnificent in its messaging. I wish I could personally thank the people who live in this house, and I hope that they live in a sane, safe blue space.

This is amazing. And it’s truly the stuff of nightmares.

A long-deranged and deeply depraved man with a pronouncedly and acceleratingly deteriorating mind announces that he intends to play with the large arsenal of nuclear weapons he controls. But it's okay, because he's not seeking a third term.

Isn't deporting just removing people from within our borders? Why are they imprisoned at all? For how long? And we're paying money to do so? This is not an immigration policy, it's a police state.

The Democratic Coalition@thedemcoalition.bsky.social

They are snatching people off the street and sending them away to brutal prisons in foreign lands with zero due process - and they won't even bring them back when they realize a mistake was made. That's frightening stuff for any American who actually loves their country. #StopTrumpsTerror

This is what the federal courts are for. If we start allowing creative retroactive disenfranchisement arguments to succeed after elections are conducted, targeting specific groups of voters that one party might benefit from disenfranchising, we are in a deeply, deeply unconstitutional place.

Unfortunately, it seems the best case scenario for Riggs at the hard-right North Carolina Supreme Court is a 3–3 deadlock that affirms today's decision. The Elections Board, Riggs, and perhaps affected voters are going to have to seek relief from federal court, and eventually the 4th Circuit.

The dissent is blunt: "Changing the rules by which these lawful voters took part in our electoral process after the election to discard their otherwise valid votes in an attempt to alter the outcome of only one race among many on the ballot is directly counter to law, equity, and the Constitution."

Two Republican judges on the North Carolina Court of Appeals just effectively overturned Justice Allison Riggs' victory over Jefferson Griffin by retroactively nullifying thousands of lawful votes. A massive and outrageous blow to democracy.

Bryan Anderson@bryanranderson.bsky.social

Story to come. The topline: If this holds, this would almost assuredly result in an overturned election, as Griffin trails by 734 votes and many of these contested ballots are disproportionately Democrats over Republicans. #ncpol Full court opinion here--> drive.google.com/file/d/1BnPY...

But Trump has shown that he is a fascistic sociopath. As to whether he is a racist: when neo nazis marched in Charlottesville chanting “ Jews will not replace us” Trump had no criticism of them- instead, he said “ There were good people on both sides”. Nope. There are no good Nazis.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

NPR CEO Katherine Maher on a tweet she posted in 2020 calling Trump a fascist and a sociopath: "I regret those tweets. I would not tweet them again today. They represented a time where I was reflecting on something I believe that the president had said rather than who he is."

Trump & Vance keep saying we “need” Greenland for security. But there is no threat to Greenland from Russia or China or any country. If there was a threat, why would the US keep just 150 military personnel in Greenland? (Air Force and Space Force)

It is absolutely right that we do not need Greenland (or Canada) for natsec reasons because they are already close NATO allies. So the only rationale to turn the US into an aggressor in our own hemisphere is if you don’t plan on NATO being a US alliance in the future.
