Head Start turned 61 this week! 🎂 The entire War on Poverty, and Head Start in particular, was a massive feat of policymaking and implementation in such a short time. When the first Head Start grant recipients were announced in May 1965 (to begin that summer!), LBJ heralded the accomplishment.

Pat Buchanan called the Pill "the suicide tablet of the West" (don't know if that made it into the doc)

Happy to be part of this mini-documentary on the pill with Claudia Goldin & Elaine Tyler May. It seems especially timely given certain groups seem hellbent on rolling back women's reproductive autonomy.

Delighted that this double podcast where I speak with @marthajbailey.bsky.social and @gtwodtke.bsky.social speaks with Natasha Quadlin is now live, where we cover both the progress made in gender inequality in the last 60 years as well as reasons for persisting differences.

Sixty years after equal pay laws and the women’s movement transformed opportunities for women, gender inequality persists in new forms. Today’s episode features @UCLA Professors @marthajbailey.bsky.social and Natasha Quadlin. Listen every other Monday: Website: bit.ly/3YdiCkj
