Blood boiling at that piece on #r4today where Nick 'Reform Mouthpiece ' Robinson repeatedly said RNLI was involved in political campaigning. Suggest he goes to sea or gts a VHF radio and listen to what they really do!
How / why did a piece on #radio4today ostensibly about the appalling abuse suffered by #RNLI volunteers and their children become solely about #NickRobinson criticising the Charity Commission?
Don't suppose they said anything about electrification where you have constant salt water spray? Asking for everyone who lives west of Starcross π (srsly - great post on may levels)
Iβm in Switzerland with Nexus β Tyne and Wear Metro, looking at cost-effective electrification renewals. Much of what makes this work efficient is what the UK sector has been calling for for a long time; it has just been put into practice. A few lessons (1/7) π§΅

Taxing private jets at the same rate as regular flights, and ending the tax exemption on plane fuel could give the Chancellor an extra Β£2.7 bn. Β£2.7bn for our green transport networks! With other MPs I am calling on the Govt to end the tax breaks for wealthy private jet users. buff.ly/B65XyNf
Oh yeah. And why hire someone to keep an eye on the fridge temps when you can jus let HAL rub the show ..

What a weird world we live in - Ukraine hits a data centre deep in Russia - Irish twitter users see racist posts about IPAS centres in Offaly fall off a cliff
And now the best part: Bot traffic from the #Yandex network has plunged to near zero following the strike on its Vladimir data center. Bot traffic includes automated requests from search crawlers, scrapers and other online services. Twitter must be a ghost town by now.

Can we please: - Put guardrails on GB News - as a news channel should be subject to laws/policy? - Create parliamentary standards for social media actions by MPs & sanction/strike off any future standing as needed? - full disclosure/limit any social media spend by any parties & co. Thanks 4 attn
On 7 October, a video shared by Stand Up to Racism Scotland, with the caption This is what happens when you keep telling racists that they have "legitimate concerns"... appeared to show a group of black-clad men βpatrollingβ the streets of Glasgow while making racist threats.

OK, but how about ensuring childcare vouchers can not be redeemed by private prep-schools running pre-reception services. Or has to be used for childcare within X miles of home address? Of course Tory policy don't care about social justice.
Counter: severe tax cliff edges, particularly in cases like this when the marginal rate spirals into infinity, are bad for everyone. They mutilate incentives and reduce overall wealth. They should be fixed and not avoided simply because they initially benefit wealthy people.

@channel4news.bsky.social has done an excellent job reporting. Of course I'm guessing not one Reform voter will have watched that, and there willl be spinning away at GfB'News'
So she's not courting the Landlord vote?
Iβm in the magnificent if slightly bonkers Scotland House London to hear Kemi Badenoch set out how she would pay for more defence spending - with a lot of the money coming from cuts to housing benefit. Youβd think that might bring some knock-on cost repercussions, but letβs see what she says.

ALL of britain's large developers are lobbying to bring back help to buy - post 2008 recovery up to 40% of their market sales were HtBuy and evidence clear it raised new build house prices (along with turnover).
One of Britainβs largest developers has urged the government to bring back Help to Buy and cut stamp duty to stimulate a moribund housing market.
