Couldn't personally verify this, but TTRPG devs check your stuff. It wouldn't be the first time the boulder of society-scale problems has rolled downhill into where we build our houses.

so itchio has shadowbanned any games tagged with 'nsfw', 'adult', or 'erotic' so they don't show up in searches, and several devs have reported that their r18 games have been removed from the site with no warning

One year ago today 🌿 Hay bales starting their migration south in North Park. Once huge herds of these covered the plains, today their numbers are greatly reduced. These are done fattening up before their long journey rolling south.

If "AI" was as valuable as they say it is, they wouldn't be selling it to you. They'd be using it themselves in secret to make the next Minecraft, the next Avatar, the next Hello Kitty and then they'd sell that to you. They're trying to sell you a sick goose, while pretending it lays golden eggs.

Finally submitted a piece today for a book on AI. Feels great to get that done, but it's also kinda awkward wanting to use what I just wrote about 4000 times a day to put a cold dose of reality on AI hype conmen posts. I hope it gets read, the world needs a lot more AI criticism.

artists support each other when systems will not. there's little safety net. it is resilience. artists are not your competitors. artists are your peers, mentors, and the ones who will defend the ability to create sustainably. to those who struggle to continue drawing, you are an artist.

Basically every study that claims to find benefits for "AI" in anything ... doesn't. At least WSJ bothered to report the retraction. Usually it's breathless slop all day.

In the U.S. in 1825, *452* out of 1000 children born died before their 5th birthday. By 1925, that number was 135 out of a 1000 children. Today, in 2025, that number is *7* And it is entirely due to advances in medicine, public health, and technology. 9/

It’s really absurd that we’ve reached a point where the “common sense” view of education is that its primary purpose is to lower the future onboarding/training costs for companies hiring new employees.

Once again thank you to everyone who worked & volunteered to make our national election happen. Democracy rests on the shoulders of citizens willing to take up its call, shoulder the burden of providing for everyone their secrecy, the chance to choose their representation & set the nation's course.

It's also vital that we maintain a robust defense of the goodness of the system and process. That people can respect and value participation by anyone for any role. That we fight back against attacks against election workers/officials, that we value even our political opponents. That is freedom.

Yes there are problems. And yes mistakes get made. Maybe we can explore PR or ranked ballots, I'm all for it. Whatever the ballot though, the system that delivers, assesses and reports them works. We have an incredible electoral system, and we should celebrate it. Thank you to everyone involved. 🇨🇦

Getting people to understand and involve themselves with the system is the most fundamental need to defend democracy. I believe Canada has an exceptionally good electoral system, even when I do see small issues, I know it's a point of massaging things, not replacing them.

I would encourage everyone to take the opportunity to work an election at least once. Whether an electoral body position, or a partisan one with a party they support. Seeing and engaging with the process is a meaningful and eye-opening experience. The more people that engage the better for Canada.

Working 16 hours straight is a frankly stupid expectation to put on election workers. Especially when you want them to follow extremely precise protocols and handle both sensitive information and situations. The system works well, but it could work better. We do need to think about our workers.

There are forces seeking to harm us, through overt and subtle means. Undermining elections takes many forms - from subtle reinforcements of apathy to purposeful misinformation campaigns to active attempts to interfere and undermine. If we're proud of our system, we need to actively defend it.
